Does anyone have any suggestions on wich offset should I go with?

any info will be greatly appreciated.

35 mm would be best. The ideal offset for mark viii's are 36mm, so 35 is fine

I would do 35mm and your outer edge would still be 1/4" shallower than my Speedstars. 45mm tucks further into the wheel well.

To avoid your tires from rubbing against the upper front ball joint stud, you cannot use 225/40R20 size tire or larger. The minimum diameter for this size is about 27.09 inches. That will be too large in diameter and will cause rubbing issues with your front suspension and may cause a blowout prematurely.

Rubbing issues can be expected with any tire having 26.70 inches in diameter or larger. This is up front only. You can go slightly larger for the rear.

You can safely use a 235/35R20 or smaller tire up front without any problem as long as you use the correct offset. The overall diameter for this size is 26.48 inches. Your speed would'nt be far off from the original specs.

The original factory tire is about 26.63 inches in diameter. So, if you were going at 50mph, your speedometer would read a little under 50mph at 49.71mph. That may vary somewhat depending on the tire manufacturer and other factors.

So.. what size tire were you planning on using?

factory is also only 7" wide.
change the width, change the offset.
40 mm may or may not clear the spindle on and 8.5" wheel. not sure.
35 mm should fit fine. 30 mm starts poking out a little.

So if I thought I was slick, and bought some 20's with 255/35/20 Falkens for cheap to slap on my 98 CE, then the joke is on me? The 255 will be too big? Guess the wife has some new rims! LOL

Guess this is what happens when a Town Car guy goes Mark! New to this place, bought 'Blairs' 98 CE and just getting around to posting here. Lincoln guy all my life (79 Town Coupe,89 TC,95 TC (my favorite) 98 TC. I'll try not to annoy with my 'noobness' and disgraceful lack of automobile know how for a man my age! Thanks for any help in advance fellas! (and lady(ies) if they happen to be here too)

its the height that is the problem, not the width. i have 275s up front.

ask your tire guy if you can mount one and see if it fits or not. then you'll know.

but as long as you keep the height close to or under 26.6", they shouldn't be an issue.
