The engine bay in the Mark is so tight, I can't find anywhere to relocate the oil filter too. The best spot would be to mount it where the battery currently is, but relocating the battery to the trunk seems like a little more trouble and expense than I want to deal with.

Has anyone relocated the oil filter and, if you did, where did you ultimately mount the filter?

I had a cheapy for a while that came with hoses just long enough for me to mount it behind the fan. I removed it after a while because I became nervous about road debris hitting it.

The best place to put it seems to be where the battery is; that is after you relocate the battery to the trunk.

Yes, I have relocated the filter due to new alternator location.

It's positioned in front of the abs pump, on the driver's side. I used braided AN 10 lines, about 30" long.

Is that inside the wheel well?

In that location, won't you have to remove the wheel well splash guard every time you want to change the filter?

I have mine behind the front bumper. It's not a problem. I can access them from the top, and I only change them every 10k to 15k miles.

I've removed it plenty of times, but I can't figure out if it's "too much trouble" to remove the splash guard in order to change the filter. Is that more or less work than the current location.

And is it worth a battery relocation to the trunk? Is that safe or wise? What size wire would I need to make it safe?

I would recommend no less than 2 gauge for something like that.

And remember that no matter how well you set it up, you will be increasing the load on your charging system. If you have ever seen the amount of resistance increases by foot in a strand of wire it would make your eyeballs pop.

Of course, using a thicker gauge wire decreases resistance.

stick it behind the fan at the bottom.. you can easily access it from underneath without too much effort...plus it would recieve cooler airflow up there ( but not sure if thats a good thing ) i noticed extra space while replacing my horn
