blue_t is his username on here. He described how he made the bumper. Don't recall him ever saying much about the hood, though.

he had pics of the entire process on the hood, someone misunderstood him too, he said he didnt want to make it again lol, he said after all the time invested he wouldnt bother again. he used foam strips layed out on the hood and put them on one by one until he had the width he wanted and started glassing it. the car has a wing on the rear too that he hand made and welded on. wheels are 19-20 combo and serious work was done to make them fit, including hoggin out the rear IRS camber bolts so he could get the giant tires to sit flat. his name is LEE. the car isnt a LSC either, it started life as a 97 Base.

I pm'd him a while ago. He gave me some details on how to do both. I would love to get both of them made...if only I had the cash...or skill.

People always comment on our hood on my car.

We tried to get a gen 2 hood going to no avail. It's funny how people always want one yet when it's time to do it no one ponies up the loot. My glass Guy said no problem too. Strange market.

It's usually price ... most want it but most won't have the cash when the time comes.

Gen 1's look girly. :p

Only if you are gay ...

Also Speed Demon could make these if there was one he could use to make the mold.

How many orders did you need to get it going and what was the cost going to be?

the straight front and sides of that hood dont look
good on a second gen
the photo angles hide the problem

this one shows the flat non body line matching front edge, it looks like crap

this shot shows how the sides of the scoop just simply dont follow nor accentuate the stock body lines.
again looks hideous

I give him an A for effort and and F for implementation.

the mark 8's styling doesnt needs to be IGNORED it should be embraced, not replaced.

i agree, i respect his effort and it came out nice but i think the 2nd gen hood looks good stock, 1st gens is a different story a cowl looks killer on them if its the right hood, but the 2nd gen is better left alone in my opinion.

Tommy just explained what I never tried to put in words.

Alot of people shouldn't touch fiberglass. The mustang cowls, the wide ones, they do the same thing as this one. It should flow with the hood line, and they don't.

On the front of this one, he should have come up more gradual from the nose, and cheated it, or worked on the nose so the valley wasn't there between the hood and nose.

It does look good at first, and is neat that he did it, and I respect his will to do it, though.

I also don't think he made any suspension mods to support that stance with those wheels either.

Did anyone ever see his finished spoiler? I did not, would be curious to see how it came out.

As far as the bumper lower, there are all kinds of options if you're going to make a 1-off. I am planning to surprise you guys with the bumper cover lower that I'm using.

Supposedly the bumper was a mix between an OEM 97 & an OEM GrandPrix. Don't quote me though. I read it on a thread right here on LVC a few months back.
grand AM, grand prix is too wide, i was gonna try it till i found out it needed to be sectioned to hell to get it to fit

I think with one of the front bumpers from a newer mustang you could do the same thing. Mock the whole thing up and make a mold or section it in, either way unless you do it in ureathane you're going to making repairs if you short a parking space with a curb.
I might give this a shot.

Are you thinking the hood would look better wider at the rear and a smoother transition front to rear?

Do you see how the factory hood line runs from edge of grille towards the mirrors? You wouldn't have to follow that necessarily, but if you at least acknowledged it and used it as the influence on the scoop it would look alot better.

Side profile.. it looks way too low in back, also. But really it isn't. He just brought it up too soon in the front. And also, since he did that, there is a dip between the nose and edge of hood. He should've taken the nose line into account also, and worked with it, instead of just forgetting about it thinking it would be ok.

The smart way, modify the bumper cover how you want with foam and fiberglass, filler-primer it, blocksand it and everything so it's perfect, then make a mould over it, use cooking spray so the two don't stick. Before you're done re-inforce the mould so it doesn't flex. Can use steel mesh, a whole lot of fiberglass, whatever, then pull it off, and lap it with fiberglass. Then the properties are consistent at least, and should help avoid hair line cracks. You could also lap it with carbon fiber. Granted, you wouldn't be baking it at a certain PSI and it wouldn't be as light as say, a formula 1 cars monocoque, but it would still be very very strong. It works alot like fiberglass. If you do use fiberglass, use kevlar. I think there's a shortage of kevlar right now, or was a couple months ago when I was price checking. Kevlar is strong too.

Then use like a U-pole sealant, block sand lightly, filler primer it again, block sand, paint.

With a bit of skill, patience, and a good eye, any body modification is super easy.

I must chime in on this, definatly make the bumper out of ureathane if posable!
ive repaired the front of the bumper 4 times since i made it.all 4 times though my wife was driving the car.as for the hood there was plenty of options i could of followed,i went with what i liked,if i was to do it again?i would make it alittle differant, wider in the back, more of a slope in the front, and more of an angle at the rear of the cowl,i should of followed the angle of the windshield.but i will be doing more to the car soon, right now we just moved to Orlando and dont have a garage to work out of yet.
