'Oly crap!

I left my property this morning on the 275HP (why do they rate truck tunes in HP, anyways!?!) tune. It snowed about 5 inches last night. Very dry snow due to the cold. Wind picked up about 0200, and I ended up with snow drift after snow drift all the way to the highway.

The 275HP tune's torque was a little too much for all that snow and kept losing traction in 4WD. Now, some of it has to do with the tires, but the old 210HP tune was just right. This 65 extra ponies... not so much. I didn't want to stop, so I kept on plowing. The ~100 gallons in the bed of the truck helped with my momentum as well, I'm sure.

I packed the front bumper as well as the grille with snow. Ugh. It still hasn't melted.

All of the snow in front of the grille and behind the rope is packed inside the bumper. It was FULL.

Yes, the new bumper won against the snow. It's taken down Elk and deer, but never snow. Now, it's been fully seasoned. Hah!

Ok, nap time.

Kinda wierd 210hp/1100tq. I've seen diesel trucks with 600+ hp (not that it matters) with equal torque. Probably be off the chart if you had that many ponies. IDK why, but having 4x as much torque than horsepower, it just seems wierd for me. I have owned only 2 diesels, both were old and decrepit. I'm not criticizing, just a commentary.

In the Diesel world, the "HP" rating in tunes is Stock + whatever the tune is. So, in this case, stock HP + tune HP. To further gum up the works, just because it says it's say, a 210HP tune, it don't always mean it's going to be 210HP+stock on every engine. Then, to complicate those works even more, the advertised tune HP is of course, engine HP. I've never come across a diesel tune that adds exactly the advertised HP to the wheels.

Furthermore, in the diesel (and even gasser to an extent) pick-up truck world, HP doesn't mean jack. Torque is what pulls that heavy trailer up the hill.

For example on the "old" 210, my truck put down 435hp and 1104ft lbs of torque. Again.... it's a diesel. It makes torque a lot differently than a gasser... and more of it at lower RPM. Of course, not all of the 1104 ft lbs are usable, but that's what it peaked at.

Yeah, just an odd concept to the unenlightened. I understand it just a little better now though. Cool.

If i were to ever buy a truck it would be this:

I dont like dodge much but an 8.3L V10 is one hell of a powerplant.

Try and tow with that.....

Last I checked, dodge refused to warranty anything on those trucks that had hitches installed.

LOL...i wouldint care about towing.

Being the fastest production truck out there is one hell of a feat.

Stock it runs 13's and 0-60 in 5 seconds.

Its good for 7,500lbs which is fine for a "sport truck".

I am NOT impressed with the srt10. I have toy'd around with a few with my jeep srt8;)

Only other downside is parts....viper engines are far less common than 5.4 modulars.
