OMFGSBPS!!! I swear this car is cursed!

You guys realize there is a seperate switch for the interior lights, and the message center/alarms...........right?

I disconnect the battery for 20 minutes and reconnect it and all the electrical issues went away. WTF?

Ever shut down a computer when it's not working right, then reboot?

Computer starts working right again ... Hmmmmm ....

Take power away from the cars computer ... put power back to car's computer.... Hmmmm ....

On Apllo 11 and 14 they did this also when there computers were not working right ...

Yep....pretty sure my switch is shot.

Point being somethings you just live with.

If you can't afford it just drive it.

I just like to make a Jamie post once and a while :D

i'm just tired of doing stuff on your car, then you come on here bitching about all the crap thats wrong with it, and nothing i do to the car seems to help, so it makes me feel like i am wasting away my weekends working on your car for nothing, like thats how i want to spend my weekends and continueously working on your car and getting absolutely nowhere with it. i havent had a free minute to myself in years, and this whole thing with people asking me to do :q:q:q:q for them every single god damn weekend is getting really old. i'm tired of being people's " mechanic " when i have a family i'd like to see too, you have a family derek and you get to see them everyday, i am the opposite, i never see mine, there comes a time in life that no one else's problems mean anything to me. i'm not trying to be a dick to you derek but when i did the motor i said i wasnt going to become your " mechanic " and i have to put my foot down, for you, and everyone, i am not a mechanic, i am not an auto repair shop, i am human, and i do have a life, i'm sorry but i do not have the time to drop everything in my life when you have something wrong with the car, your gonna have to have the rack done somewhere else, i'm just tired of my life being filled with everyone else's problems dude.

That's fine Jamie, but remember you offered to do the engine, and you offered to do the rack...you act like I asked you. I simply asked you what was wrong with it in your opinion, and you offered your service. Don't make this out like I am hounding you to fix my car...I hound you when you offer to help but then dodge me.

I mentioned it at the meet and you said it was a rack and that it was super simple and would only take you 2 hours to do (you mentioned something about it being two bolts). You went on to tell me how you can pop it out real fast etc.

No hard feelings if you don't want to work on my car. But don't offer and then renig on people when they are counting on you for your word.

It's all good.

I will not bother you with any more of my problems with my car unless it pertains to your previous work.

Edit: Just so it's clear, and so this isn't taken the wrong way, I really have no hard feelings Jamie. Just next time don't offer help unless you plan on going through with it.

Seriously can you stay out of my threads? Every thread I start about my car you jump in with your crap. It's getting quite old, and it would be nice if you can actually act like responsible staff and quit starting fights with members.

I know that's why it started working again jackass! My point was if I switched the computer, it ran good, then it ran like crap a few days later, then I "re-boot" it and it drives better again, something electrical is f'n with the computer. This is why I mentioned it....

But I'm assuming since you are so freaking knowledgeable that you already knew that.

Where do you or staff get off telling some members to chill out and be nicer to others, yet you yourself go and start fights and act like a pompous tough guy?

Hang in there bro, when I first bought mine I had a ton of things go wrong. Water pump, radiator, front bags, brakes, tranny and so on. It only had 60000 miles too. You need to find a good mechanic that you trust for the stuff you can't tackle yourself. It will work out in the end. If your anywhere near Pinellas Park, I know someone who is a great mechanic to have with a MarkVIII.

P.S. Don't let the dicks get you down. They only achieve satisfaction by pissing someone off. Just kill em with kindness and they won't know what to do. When you respond in a negative manner, they win.

Thanks. Sure I'd love his number. Pm me it if you get a chance. I wish I still had a garage. When I had my garage I had a lot more courage because if the car was in parts, at least I can shut the garage door and not have to worry about the elements, or thieves. But I live in a townhouse now, and the parking spot is on a slant to boot, so I can tackle much less than I would have done before.

funny what you say about killing them with kindness...my father used to always say that too me. I've just been under so much stress the last two years that I have a hard time doing so. I need to try though because you are right.

derek you actually are wrong about what i said this time, i did say i COULD do the rack, and i did say its PRETTY easy to change, but i NEVER said i wanted to do your rack. i didnt offer to do the rack, i said what i said about it being easy hoping you would tackle it yourself, i did offer to do the motor, i dont deny that, but i didnt offer to do the rack, i was trying to hype it up so you would try it yourself. and that whole thing about keeping my word, :q:q:q:q that if i said i would do something and then i decide not to, tough :q:q:q:q!!!!!!!!!!!!! what does someones word mean these days??? come on! i got no hard feeling either, if i choose to back out of something i said i would do oh well, but i didnt say i would do the rack. whatever anyway i'm getting to the point where i am not going to do anything for anyone period, i am not targeting you derek, i am getting burnt out in general.

Hey ... it's you with the problem ... I just tried to help ... if you can't take it then don't read my post ... I said nothing bad .... if you can't deal with what the problem is ...

Sometimes you need to look at what you have said or done....

If you beat your car it's not going to run nicely ... It's going to have problems ...

If it has problems then you beat it it will have more problems ...

And Don't tell me to stay out of your threads ... If you don't want any comments then don't post.

Sometimes it take a 2 x 4 to make someone to realize what the problem is.

You are driving Jamie crazy with all the cheap support he's giving you .... You are taking his family time away .... and Jamie is still giving you his time that he's asked nicely ... please stop ...

The membership has trired and tried to help you .... and you keep abusing your Mark VIII (especially when it has problems) ... Which lead me to the support I gave you ... don't beat the car when it's acting up... especially when it's the only DD you have and you need it to get back and forth to school.

If the car is all you have for yourself right now and you can't afford another one (which has been suggested) then treat it better.

I've had 4 Mark VIIIs and I've never had the problems you are having ... but when my cars have acted up I didn't go racing them out of a parking lot. I drove them with care as to not make them worse.

Oh .. an don't ever tell me to stay out of your thread ... if you don't want any post ... then don't post....

And give poor Jamie a break ...

LvC is not all about you!!!

Peace Out ... Love you man!

I suggest you hit the door with a hammer next time it acts up.
Then hound Jamies to install a new door.

Look on Craigslist under automotive services. Often times mechanics will post ads to do side work for 1/3 to 1/2 what the shops charge, and some will even come to you to do it. Oh, and download that damn CD!!! With my instructions it should only take 20 minutes or so from start to finish.

Guys.........

Let Jamie deal with his own issues. I think he is more than capable of telling ripped what he is thinking. IIRC Jamie even told us to stay out of it, and am inclined to agree. Other than the obvious issues, I don't see a reason to drag this pissing match on any longer.

On the other hand Ripped........you DID take a hammer to your valve cover because it wouldn't come off. And a bunch of idiocy insued, so you will have to live that stigma down. And I ain't kidding when I say this.....

It'll take a while.

Mike

Jamie you did say you would fix it, and gave me a price to do it. How would I have been given a price by you if you didn't offer to do it? Part of the process of agreeing to do something is giving a price. You did say you would do it. But regardless, as I said, no big deal, I'll deal with it. You know I'm big on keeping people on their word, so don't take it personal, I just get agitated when I depend on someone to stick to what they say.

I know you are getting burnt out, hence why I said earlier I won't bother you anymore about fixing my car. I had a local guy call me about a part I have listed and he asked if I knew anyone that can work on these cars...before I even read your post I told him I do, but I don't think he wants to work on these cars anymore.

No hard feelings, I just didn't want people here thinking I had a problem and I came running to you begging you to fix it. That's not how it went down. I knew you were tired of it so I didn't ask, you offered. Same with the engine, you offered, I didn't ask. I just wanted people here to know that so they don't try to act like I'm this giant burden on you that leeches off your help. If someone extends a hand, of course I will accept their help. It's as simple as that.

You've done a lot of work to my car, and have helped me immensely. I appreciate it and hopefully we can put this :q:q:q:q in the past.

The rack will take 20 minutes? I'm curious now....I'm going to download the cd after I post this and look at it. If so I'm spending the money I was going to pay Jamie to buy a new jack and fix it this weekend.

Is the hating really necessary

Thanks for the support :Beer

Yeah I know. I was just saying to Laser in pm's that my valve cover get's f'd up and put chips all over the engine and chipped the cam towers so being that it was already broke, out of pure aggression I took a hammer to it. I thought it would make people laugh at what not to do so I posted it. That was the first time in 10 years I broke something out of anger. I said it was amazing how I smash one thing that was already broken out of pure anger and people act as though I have zero knowledge about cars.

I tapped the heads on my Mustang myself, I've done brakes, fuel filters, engine mounts and other things on my Mustang and had no major issues whatsoever. I'm still a beginner, but know a lot more than the majority of non-car people. I'm always interested in learning. It's through productive debates that answers are often revealed.

I'm new to this car, and there is a lot of conflicting advise so it's hard to sometimes figure out what the hell is going on with my car.

But you are right Mike, no one forced my hand on that hammer, and no one forced me to post pics. I'll have to live that down.....I definitely agree...

I hear ya :D

Oh, and K9T8M...you have a PM. It's an apology for misreading your post and thinking you were trying to start stuff. I'm just so used to people cluttering threads I start with condescending statements that I jumped the gun and took it the wrong way so I owe you an apology.

I dunno Derek,

We all have our strong points, and weakneses. If I were you, I would think back about the advice you have gotten from everyone, take the people who gave GOOD advice, and continue listening to them.

Don't bother dealing with :q:q:q:q:q:q:qs.

My #1 thought on this situation is.

"All the information in the world is useless to me IF I have to deal with an azzhole to get it."

Very true. I'm downloading Marked8's cd right now and seeing what I can do. I was super confident in working on my car myself...until I broke the valve cover. That killed my confidence. I guess I need to get back on the proverbial horse so to say, and get my confidence in working on cars back. :D

How many times have i suggested for you to get a manual, read it, and get your tools and fix your car....

There's a way to do things, and a way not to...
Laser and I work on each others car ALL the time..
Not very often is it because one of us doesn't know what's going on and has to call the other, but more so because one of us doesn't have a certain tool that we need.

Yes tools are expensive, and yes you'll have to be slightly smarter than an ape to figure out how to use them, but I'm damned certain I you can figure out how to read a law book, you can read an automotive book too.

Thirdly, even if you don't have a book, still pretty dayum certain than even a MORON could learn how to rebuild a Mark8 from the ground up, just from articles on this Forum...my car has had a TON of problems...all but a few have been corrected by me learning little tricks and secrets that these cars possess, by reading about the issues here on LvC

with that in mind, I would like to thank everyone on here that has offered advice and suggestions towards my 93, she's runnin awesome
(now I just need the $ for the new fuel pump and I'll call it 100% DD worthy)

Very true. That's why I'm downloading Marked8's CD manual right now, and probably buying a good new jack tomorrow. I'm just a little scarred from the valve cover incident...:shifty::eek:
