sorry to hear about the fire That sucks! I must have missed the posts but how did that happen?
My stupidity. My 94 was bogging out on me after it would get warmed up and started when coming to a coast. I swapped out everything I could think of and I had a 93 engine in the garage just setting there. I decided to swap out 4 injectors on the drivers side. What I didn't know at the time (because I rushed it) was that one of them had two O-rings on it, maybe two of them did, not really sure but I put them in and bolted the fuel rail down, made sure everything was good and tight.
I should have primed the rail to get pressure up to it but instead, I just shut the hood thinking it would run fine. First try, it didn't crank. 2nd try, it sputtered and then finally it started. It was missing real bad now. I figured it was because the fuel rail just needed to build pressure. Well, it couldn't build pressure because one or two of the injectors were leaking gas while it was running. I had no clue and luckily I was inside the car with the windows up. This was in Jan, so it was cold out but I had the garage door open. I gassed it up to around 2K rpm for about 7 to 10 seconds and it was still missing real bad. I let off and it was still missing so I decided to just leave it alone for the night. It was 11:00 pm and I was sick of messing with it.
I pressed the door opened to close the door and when it got half way down, I reached to turn the car off and that's when the explosion happened. If I would have had the windows down, I would have been burned bad and if anyone would have been in the garage just standing around, they would have been killed instantly, if not burned extremely bad. Luckily none of the above happened. After the initial blast that blew the garage door windows across the street and blew out the side window and people 10 houses away could hear it, I jumped out onto a burning floor. It caught my pants leg on fire and then I dove out onto the driveway and didn't know it at the time but I gashed my leg on glass. Noticed that about an hour after the fact.
So, needless to say, I don't mess with injectors anymore and never will. I learned and I know I could do them correctly now but unless you have been in an explosion like that, it's hard to understand. I even blew the back wall of the garage 8 inches off of a concrete foundation. I did not get one burn on me, just the cut but the 94 burned in the front. I saved the black interior which was all good except for one door panel but I had another set luckily. After Jamie found out what happened, he offered me the 95 so I flew down to Florida and bought it and drove it back. I sent him a brand new compressor in the mail so that it would be there before me and he installed it for me. My liability insurance paid for the garage but everything burned in the garage, including the car was a complete loss and then another 2K out of my pocket for another car.
It took OMNI insurance months and months of investigation and jerking off before they would fix the house but they finally did after 7 to 8 months and now it's all back to new again. My dad had it cluttered out there and that's something that I don't believe in but a lot of it was his stuff that was burned. Some of it was mine but all I was worried about was my car. It was gone. No fixing that! A few pics below to show just what can happen when you rush things and don't check for leaks.
Ok, now I go to Florida to buy the white opalescent from Jamie.
It looked good inside but not my color choice but for the deal, I had to get it because I knew what I could do with it.
This was after I had the windows tinted and put new tires on it all the way around.
Next step was buying NIB headlight housings and a NIB grille. Another $700 just for that but that's what I wanted. The housings that Jamie had in there were fine and it was a set he had re-chromes but I'm funny about things and wanted new ones.
Grille and housings now installed with HID kits in the lows and highs. Now I want my black interior in the car but I don't want to mess with the dash. Decided to go with a two tone grey and black look to see what it would look like.
Started stripping it out.
Piled all the junk in the burned up garage lol.
Rear black deck panel and rear seats and seat belts went in first and carpet of course.
Now I'm getting the front seats in and coming up with this look so far.
Something still isn't hitting my eye right but I can't figure out what it is until I go check the other car and then I decided to remove the grey carpet from the side of the console and put my black carpet on that and it changed the looks completely.
Shortly after this, within a week, I put in the black door panels to finish it up all the way. I still haven't taken a pic of that yet but not hard to imagine. It also made a world of difference. Tonight I just bought two black sun visors and now I just need to do the headliner. I couldn't use the 94 because it had the moonroof, which I never used and never really liked it.
Next thing coming within the week will the be the stereo system I had in the 94 except now I have a new Kenwood eXcelon deck and all new wiring from front to back. I'll have the same setup as I had in the 94 which looks like this.
Three 10" JL Audio subs in a slot ported box designed for these 10's. I will be going back with blue hidden LED lighting so when the trunk is opened, the lighting will come on automatically.
The amps are Kicker Impulse. One is a 2252xi and the other is a 654xi and I also have a bridge that goes in between both amps to cover some wiring. That's what makes it look so long.
Now, the new home for the 95 is here. Before sheet rock was put up.
This is after the sheet rock was put up and insulation went up on all walls. Garage is fully insulated now. This is before it was painted.
Now completed with paint on the walls and the floor completely painted and that damn Sanoma was sold last week and is no longer sharing rooms with the Mark.
Now the Mark sets dead center and this concludes my story of what happened from start to finish. Now I need a black headliner lol. I could take it and get it done but I'm not leaving my car with anyone. If they can do it, I can do it. I just need to find the material and I'll do it myself for probably $100 less. I'm within one month of being done and then maybe wheels will be the next option but no rush for them right now.
To top all of this off, my dad passed away in his room in this very same house on July 8th and he never got to see the garage even being worked on. He was 62 and me and him and my 8 year old son had all lived together since 2004. 2010 was and has not been one of the best years and not just me but for many others on here.
