Options for Lincoln LS toe Link / Rear Adjustment Link / Torque Link 6W4Z-5B551-AA 1W4Z5B551AA

Has anyone here ever tried the Mevotech latheral links?

Yeah Mevo is junk. Most aftermarket rear links are.

If you are planning on keeping the car for a while... and want to do a minor handling upgrade on the rear... buy the Lemforder non passive toe links for a 2002 Jaguar S-Type.

(to me they were an upgrade... shrug)

Just for reference:

LEMFORDER 3358901 (33589 01) Tie Rod Assembly (inner & outer) $ 98.79 $ 0.00 2 $ 197.58
Discount $ -9.88
Shipping Ground $ 7.99
Order Total $ 195.69

I'm not calling them tie rods. That's how they are listed on RA.

The above is from an old thread a few years ago.

Pricing and availability may have changed.

I guess I had a new ford oem link in one of my boxes laying around in the garage, will it cause damage if I run one with passive on one side and a solid one on the other side temporary? Asking this because I already ordered 1 jag non passive Thx

I would not think so. The handling (when pushing it) probably will be different turning left than turning right, so keep that in mind.

It most likely will cause some minor handling issues and unusual tire wear.

With passive rear steer... during cornering, the outer wheel toes in and the inner wheel toes out.

I you have one solid and one passive... the rear of the car will be fighting itself.

Plus there is the old (automotive) saying... "always replace everything in pairs".

If you were doing shocks... would you replace one with a standard shock... and one with a stiffer shock?

Personally... I never liked the passive rear steer. When driving agressively It always felt like the backend was going to come around on me without warning (no telltale signs).

Sourced these a while ago. Cannot recall all the details. Purchased 00-02 Jaguar vendor. Do not have info in front of me. The poly bushings are blue. They fit fine. The original one on the left was making noise, the steering was pulling to the left. The bad link was pushing the tracking of the car. They where budget priced, aligned just fine, huge improvement over bad parts. Do not know if they will last 20 years, they have been in for 10k. Considering the resale on the cars, not sure. Sourcing parts is very complicated with many cars. You get lucky or you don't. Example, I would not buy Cardone remanes, terrible quality, dangerous steering components. These links worked very well. I bought a Jag Thermostat housing from Welsh, the quality and price was excellent. They may have Jag links.

Couldn't of been said better thanks for the info 04...
I agree
but in terms of handling and stability would passive-rear-steer allow me to take a sharper turn faster than non-passive without loosing grip?

And having it WOT while in a sharp turn PRS vs No-PRS

I never felt comfortable pushing the LS through a curve with the passive steer... so I can't answer that.

I can tell you that I have taken full loop downgrade onramps... rated at 35mph... at 65mph... with the non-passive links (in 3rd gear).

I was waiting for the backend to come around... but it didn't.
There was enough g force... that my shoulder was pinned against the door... and my left foot/leg was buried in the kick panel.

Not sure what you mean by PRS.

Supposedly... passive rear steer helps improve stability. Does that mean you will be able to take a corner faster? I can't really answer that. I never liked the PRS... because like I said... the rear of the LS was unpredictable with PRS.

However... I did find this... which may help.

I drive pretty wild, my miles per gallon averages about 14, I like the passive rear steer.
