I recently put on a k&n typhoon cold air intake on my 2003 lincoln ls v8. Ever since i have noticed my car over heating. I have to put half a jug of coolant evry other day. I dont see any puddles under the car tho after it has been sitting for a while. Any ideas?

The intake has nothing to do with losing coolant.

have you checked the passangerside floor to see if it is wet, and have you checked to see if you degas bottle is cracked?

I have to put half a jug of coolant evry other day.

this shows that you are either loosing coolant or burning coolant, that big of a leak and you should be able to see it. if its burning somewhere, then you would be able to smell it.

the only way that it could be from the intake, is if you damaged something during the install, like cracked a brittle piece of the cooling system.

i would start the car up and let it idle for a little while and let it get up to temp and build some pressure and see if you can see the leak

a half a jug every other day is a big leak, not only is coolant leaking out, but air is leaking in, trapped air is causing your overheating issue

You are due for all of the plastic cooling system parts to start to crack. You may have several leaks, and the degas bottle will certainly be one of them.

Thanx for all ur help. Not to sound like a tard but is a degas bottle the same as a resevoir?

Most likley a degas bottle. Since its 03 I do believe they had electric fans installed then so shouldnt be a fan problem.
