Painted Rims?

Dan Ro, I have a couple buddies who work at auto detailing places and I have access to some pretty awesome car-safe acids. My wheels were not severely corroded but they were pretty bad. Used some cleaning acid they have called "Ninja" and it really cleaned it up.

If your looking into cleaning them up before you want to paint them in the spring we can meet up

Thanks. I will also ask the vender at work that I my cars to for the lot. We have a good working relationship.

Acid cleaners aren't going to do anything for corrosion. They will work nicely on caked on/embedded brake dust, but corrosion requires refinishing.

It seemed like the grime had started to corrode the "crease" in the spoke. A couple applications of the ninja and a rubbing compound and it cleaned it right up. Maybe it didn't eliminate the corrossion but it cleaned it up enough where its not noticable.

I agree tho, refinishing is best. However not really a good option for me

Agree. It will clean the crud out of the corrosion. But it won't get rid of it. Just wanted to clear that up so there wasn't any unrealistic expectations. I'm a detailer. We're notmiracle workers.

I painted my wheels Black with a rattle can and they have actually held up pretty well so far. Im gonna redo them this spring, I love the black on silver look!!!

Those look sick with the silver! I think ur picture convinced me! one more question, were those rims chrome to begin with? If they were what would be the process to painting them could i just paint over the chrome? or do i have to sand it off?
