PS: i remember how it was using P&S cameras, putting it on any flat surface and using the night mode dial + timer haha, those were the days

what DSLR u plan on getting? u will have 10x more fun taking pictures with a dslr!

Thanks, and yes that is exactly what I am doing with this camera.

I am not sure which camera I am going to get, trying to decide if I want to go straight to a point and shoot DSLR, or get a high-end video camera.

my personal suggestion to you would be to get a recent dslr with video capability
starting from t3i and up.
30fps @ 1080p, interchangeable lenses, built in wireless flash trigger system, good low light performance, everything you'd ever want, and if you change your mind these camera retain excellent resale value
im using a 60d with a few lenses/flashes and couldn't be happier

cant wait to fix up the ls and do a proper photoshoot!
