I'm trying to find out exactly where the PCV is located on a 99 Navigator. It is a 5.4L v8. I have two codes reading 171 and 174 too lean bank 1 and 2. I've read a repair manual but my engine looks nothing like the one in the book. The elbow had a hole in it and the replacement doesn't fit right but thats a whole different story. I read where I should check the vacuum on the PCV valve by removing it and can't find it to do that. Thanks for the help. My son has tried to help me but no luck there either.

First is it a "SOHC" or the "DOHC" engine then we would need to know heated or not heated (water hoses on valve as in top of illus) to get the correct one. Here is the diagram of the Nav...not to be confused with the Expedition!! in this case. looks like the rear hole in the l/s valve cover.

Is is a dual overhead cam and the part store said it was heated. I'll double check on that one though and get back to you. Thanks for the help.

Hey folks,

apparently the Navigators have frequent problems with any of the following valves and/or their vacuum hoses:
- PCV (positive crankcase ventilation)
- IAC (idle air control)
- EGR (exhaust gas recirculation)
and Master Control air valve.

I have a 05 Navi with idling problems and it shuts of while driving when releasing the gas pedal, what is pretty dangerous. Since I'm in Germany and there's no Lincoln dealers out here (forget about Ford dealers, they've never seen a Navi) I would need some help.

Can anybody with a repair manual post or pm illustrations of where each of these valves is located? I guess that would help a lot. I did a search on the forums, but beside this post i found no images on that.

Thanks in advance, Kevin.
