What cars are you thinking about getting or thought about getting? Why?

For those not selling, what cars would you recommend that are comprable, just a little cheaper and more reliable?

This thread isnt made for people to start rambling on how broke people are or how they should have thought about the car before we bought it. Im just looking for opinions on other cars. So no judging needed in this thread.

I love, and i mean love my LS, its just costing me more than i thought a car could. Thats the only reason why I'm asking.

I'm about this close to trading my LS in for a 2006 Ford Harley Davidson F-150 truck. I've been wanting a truck for quite some time but have been reluctant to do it.

If I had to buy a car it would probably be a used 2003 or 2004 BMW M3.

Chrysler 300C's are hott... an older Infiniti G35 cause the new ones are prolly too expensive... not many cars out there hotter than the LS in my opinion  how bout a Zephyr?

are you paying payments?

(i'm glad i bought mines cash;) )

yes im paying payments, not alot thought, its not about how much im paying, i just want something that gets better gas mileage and is more reliable and doesnt have so many problems. im not even sure if im going to sell it. :q:q:q:q i prolly wont.

And what is (i'm glad i bought mines cash ) supposed to mean

Dooney means that he is not spending any extra money on monthly payments, because his car is paid off already. That's what I think he means.

GS 400

01 S500.. you can get em for 25

I traded my LS on a new Dodge Charger R/T with the performance package. I also considered the 300C and GTO (too small).

Because of my experience with the LS, I ordered my Charger without the electronics package with the gas mileage computer, thermometer, and all that other stuff that never worked right on my LS just to avoid frustration. No, my Charger does not have many of the luxury features the LS had, but that also means there's not nearly as much stuff that can break.

I got the Charger in November and have put 7,000 miles on it and nothing has broken yet. It even gets better mileage than my '00 LS V8 did (19.5 vs. 18 in my commute).

I have thought about selling the LS about 20 times, but i still keep it. I have spent about $6000 in mechanical repairs on my LS during almost 3 years of owning it, but I still think that it is one of the hottest looking cars on the street, not one of the best ones but one of the best looking ones. If I would be changing my LS, I would probably get (talking $20000-$30000) a 01 BMW 740I sport short wheel base or maybe a 03 E500 BENZ. I love the new 550i, but that's helluva lot of money (about $62000 loaded).

I've been back and forth on the subject of getting rid of it, I did once for a day but that fell through(some may remember). I've decided that I have one option left for awhile and that is, my parents love the car just as much as I do and said if I want to sell it than they would try to buy it. I would try and private sell but since I went upside down when I traded for it I owe a good amount still and the parents since they love it have no problem like some would buying it if they can and not to mention they know how I take care of my vehicles.

Cars I have been thinking about have been from what some would say "what the f**k" to "yea I likey too."

My list(not in order besides the first one):

'91-'02 Toyota MR-2( I really want a '95 or so)
New Civic Si
New Eclipse(GS or GT does not matter)
New Tiburon GT SE
Honda s2000
Another Cavalier(I know alot about them, kill for an '88-'90 5-spd z24)
Infinite G35 Coupe(slightly used, better price)
VW Golf GTI VR6(25th or whatever edition)
Audi TT
Older BMW M3(late 90's) or 328i.
Mini Cooper S
Dodge SRT-4
Contour SVT
Roush Mustang or regular GT or new style stang
'99-'00 Civic Si
Lexus IS-300
Mazda 6(sport package, Speed version welcome)
Miata MX-5
Older Eclipse, 1st or 2nd gen in good shape

Thats my list right now. In some cases if the LS is gone and I do not have to try a trade again I could probably get back to two cars again, you know, have a DD and a car to tinker with I miss having that option. I probably well not get anything special if the LS does go cause I plain on just getting my 'bird on the road and than saving for awhile and going back to college than I can have my "car fun."

MMMMMMMMMM I would sell it if I could find a good clean and reasonably priced 03-05 XJ-R Jaguar, like this one. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2004...ryZ31848QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
But I love my LS and need to pay it off first then maybe I will. One day soon I will own a Jaguar like that one above. This color in person is AMAZING! Thats just the exterior the interior is beautiful, like I always say if you want to see 100% perfect fit and finish, nothing in the world compares to Jaguars.

Yes, those are very nice. I'd like a new xk or xj(whatever ahaha) 8. Thats dreaming though. I forgot to add to my list, Jaguar x-type or s-type, I kind of kicked myself after getting the LS and realizing for the same price I could of had one of them.

Yea, that's a real nice Jag, some of these wheels would look even better on it.

I have no idea what I would buy instead but, with two little girls, the money to buy anything is some ways off.

Not a lot of RWD choices I like. I don't like the Chrysler stuff.

I might be into a Caddy or Acura TL. Lexus and Infiniti don't crank me over and the Germans....eh.

Well, maybe an Audi.

I 110% agree,w/ HYELIFELS, on these wheels, dont see to many with those wheels around. Those chromed out would be sweeeeeeeet!

Hey Ken,
Don't you think a better alternative would be to keep your LS and buy a less expensive truck? Here's a picture of one that my buddy Tony has for sale. He's quite proud of it and has added some pretty cool mods. Let me know if I can help you two put a deal together.

If the truck comes with a six pack I'm all over that one!! Will he deliver it to Knoxville? :hump:

that truck's a cherry...

Isn't it??? Actually, it was parked near my motor home, right near the Port-o-John, at a bluegrass festival that we attend each year. We always decorate and accessorize the camper, so as to fit in and not be construed as "foreigners" by the locals. How'd we do???

2001+ Pontiac Bonneville is nice car for the money. The SSEi is the only version i would recommend. Great features, good engine, safe car.

So, in short, would you do it again? And what do you like most about the LS in general? Also what do you like least?

No, they're not making the LS anymore. I'll probably wind up getting an '07 Navi, or if I'm lucky, a Range Rover HSE. I bought it because I was tired of driving SUV's and it gets better mileage than the Navi, but I don't like how the interior's lights are green, as opposed to white like the Navigator. Aside from that, I love it.

Overall, the LS is a very reliable car. However, what you see on this board in particular are lots of young kids who bought their LS used and are trying to convert them into some type of hotrod.

So true. :\
