Well, a lot of us have the mystery beep that happens every once in a while. I had mine happen a couple of times the other day and thought I saw an "ajar". The thing beeped usually when going over a bump or sometimes during a tight turn. Finally I saw the message. It was the trunk. It was shut, but I think the switch is a little faulty. It happens so fast that the message center doesn't normally show the message. I opened it and re-shut and the beeping didn't re-occur as testing over some speed bumps.

I am sure there are other phantom beeps, but I think that is what mine is.

Good catch. I used to get the phantom beep once in awhile, but it's been a long while now. Never knew what it was, just assumed it was an intermittent or EMI noise pickup by the computer's sensors. I did have the rubber boot fall off the trunk's pin switch, tried briefly to put it back on w/ no success. I think its going to take a special tool. Any ideas?

there are times I wish I had bought the V8 but the one thing I keep going back to that makes me happy I did not is the beeping issue.

Many I would be like a zipped up money on a leash... a total freak.

Glad you found a trouble spot and thanks for sharing.

I just checked my service slips and I had to take my LS in foor the door ajar in 2001. The problem was the trunk switch. Since I do have the V8 I dont have the message center gimmic so i did get nagged by the beep. In my customer concern statement I noted that the light would turn on and off when riding on rough roads, backing out of the driveway or bumps.

Mine is accompanied by 'GEAR SELECTION ERROR'

Had the PCM flash but still get the beep. Lasts a few nano seconds... you get used to it.

there is a documented issue with the PCM loosing communication (for an instant) with the transmission - it flashes 'gear select error' for a second.

no worries.
