I am eventually going to replace my tires but I love the factory 17" chrome wheels. I would like to see if anyone has a picture of those wheels with a slimmer tire size.
Not on mine. I think I have the same 245/45 size but I'm not sure. I do remember that for the exact same tire (Kuhmo) in either the stock size or the wider tire I got, it was $100 cheaper per tire to go with the much better looking 45 series tire.
I have 245/45/17 but mike hollnut(which is my inspiration on painting my wheels and lowering) is running 255/45/17 that they also work great... thats my next upgrade 255/45/17 tires they make the car look a lot aggresive
smdandb2, stock size for our wheels is 235/50/17, so how can you have 245, that will be wider wouldn't it?
i'm probably going to get some toyo proxe 4's wrapped on my stock 17" chromes unless you guys suggest a better tire. that's what i had my my last car but they were 19's. i'm thinking 45 or 40. don't know how small to go.
A 245 size tire is only 1 cm or 3/8" wider than a 235 and a 255 is only 2 cm or 3/4" wider than a 235.
The stock 7.5" rim can easily accomodate the extra widths of these bigger tires.
Just a slight more donuting with the 255 but the 245 with only 3/16" extra on each side hardly makes a difference.
You'll also have a little faster acceleration and in my case if I get 45 profile tires instead of 50 I can enter the tire height into my SCT livewire tuner and reflash the ECM to correct the speedo for the lower profile.
