Hey guys, im new here. PLEASE help me!!!!

My 2004 lincoln LS v8 was running great, then I hit WOT, the motor loss power, and shaked and rocked ALOT. the CEL was flashing.

It went into Fail safe mode.

I got it to ford, they say its number 4 missfire and the electric throttle body needs to be replaced.
the codes-
P2107
P2110
and
P0304

Is this true, or dose the miss fire send the thorttle body code. its weird my car had no CEL and was great, i get a bad missfire, and then my TB goes bad out of no where!!

what has happen in the past?

ford want 800 bucks for the TB and coil replacement!!!

Please guys help me out guys, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!

yes this is true.... mine pulled the same code for TB when i had a Type A misfire like you are discribing... replace the coil and maybe even the plug and go from there...

The coils should be under extended warranty even if original warranty expired.

Mines a 04, i heard the 03 has that.

also, i bought my car from a used from a used car lot, not ford. would that make a diffrence?

No, no difference. I did the same and got a letter from Ford about it in the summer of 07. Do a search here for "program m707", I posted the letter. Call the number on there, give them your VIN and ask if it's covered.

Correct... I'm wondering if the 800 bucks to fix it is just the throttle body they are trying to rape him on?

from what i have learned... there really isn't any test procedures for the ETC! the manufacturer doesn't want people messing with them for liability reasons....

so when the AVERAGE tech sees a TB code they just replace without looking in to it

Mine is an 04 and I have the letter to prove it.

No it doesn't matter where you bought you LS it is the car that is covered, Ford's OASES system would have the information.

im on the phone with ford motor company. on hold.

thank you guys so much!!!!!

i hope this works out.....

If you guys were in philly Id buy ya's A BEER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After talking to ford, they said the coil is coverd!!! they called the ford dealer and said it was coverd.

When I called the dealer, the guy said "O yea, I forgot about that program lincoln has"

Then I say to replace the coil and leave the TB alone. he says "You still need the TB, I know its not just the coil"

SOOO hopefully the new coil will take to TB code off to.

Has anyone had the coil go, then the motor go into Failsafe?

once the coil is replaced, should it be fine, or will i have to leave the cars battery un hooked for a while to reset the computer for the car to run again??

THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH!!!!!

If your ever in philly and you need a place to stay, or a good bar to go to, please PM me. You all just saved me ALOT of MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just change the coil first. I've read that a bad #4 coil can cause a false TB code.

This happen to me 2 weeks ago i had to change the coil and all the spark plugs and the boots... then the tb code was reseted and never came back and ever since the car is running perfect...the mechanic only charge me 180 labor but 800 is crazy:eek:

I just had work to my electronic throttle body done. It was overheating, causing random ETC failsafes when it got hot.
It was also not functioning properly- my mechanic was able to see readouts from his screen that said at full pedal it was only at 97% throttle, and when the pedal was depressed sometimes it would stick for a bit before it started to drop. Part cost about $300 bucks.

I had just had my VCGs and plugs and coil boots replaced, mechanic thought that was the only issue, drove it about 10m before it threw a code that the ETB was bad.

I personally think 800 is rape, can probably be done much cheaper at your non-dealer mechanic. From what I understand, it's a pretty easy part to replace.

i saw somewhere on this forum that people were saying the ETC only opend 75%.....

I wonder is the dealer scan tool reads the outputs differently?

they are most likely trying to fock you on your throttle body. It COULD be the throttle body, yes... but from my own personal experience, these douchebags just throw parts at the problem... it's not their money. Swap that coil out... Could solve all of your problems.

The dealership by me tried to tell me that my K&N ruined my throttle body and I'd need a new one... to the tune of $700 and some odd dollars. Turned out to be a $25 throttle position sensor which I replaced myself.

On the V8 the #4 coil when failing can give off Radio Frequency and bleed in to the computer on that side of the fire wall that give other erroneous codes.

About the 75%...later in that thread, someone posted that that tools manual said on some cars WOT would only register as 75%.

My '03 LS8 even did it on number 3. Replaced the coil an no more ETC Failure notification on message center.
