Jeremy is my son's cousin and they have been life-long best friends.

He is fighting Osteorsarcoma. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osteosarcoma

We are all stunned. It is hard to believe such a vibrant, energetic teen could be struck with something so serious out of the blue!
He was admitted to Phoenix Children's Hospital today and has his first surgery tomorrow.

He will undergo chemo. After the tumor is shrunk by chemo his knee and lower femur will be removed.
The surgeon is confident his leg will be salvaged and he will receive a high grade replacement knee. Then more chemo.

The good (phenomenal) news is that although he is grade 3 , no lung or lymph metastasis were found in his PET scan!

Please wish him well and throw a like to his page.

Thanks!

I wish him luck and the good thing is that it hasn't spread. With today's tech, I am sure he will be able to do all the things he used to do.

I wish him luck. My family and I will keep him our prayers as well.

Best wishes bro!! I'm sick too with chronic pancreatitis. been in and out of the hospital more time then I can remember this year and close to dying as well. hang in there and best wishes this christmas. :bestwishe

Thanks! I'll pass it on.

He had his first chemo this week.
It left him feeling less than awesome.

We get to spend Christmas with him, but that's it until we get flu shots.

I wish Jeremy all the best and hopefully he can beat this. It's sad to see a child have to go through such an ordeal. I hope everything works out for him and for the family. Let him know that there is NO LIMIT to what he can overcome!

Today is the day. Chemo has shrunk the tumor quite a bit. He goes in for surgery in a couple hours. After his knee is replaced he is expected to make a full recovery.

Hope everything goes well. I am learning about bone diseases right now and this story definitely will be concrete into my brain now.

Thanks everyone!
I will pass all this on.

Surgery went well. 11cm off the femur, 11mm off the tibia. Minimal muscle loss.
They said they couldn't even see the tumor and the bone looked good, looks like the chemo is really working.
They will have him up and walking w/walker or crutches right away.

Phoenix Children's Hospital has been amazing!
I can't even explain how much they have helped our entire family all through this!

My prayers and thoughts go out to him. One year ago this week, I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia which required a bone marrow transplant. So, I can sympathize with what your family is dealing with. I hope all goes well and he obtains a full recovery.
