POS Brakes / Rotors? >.<

my toyota tech brake class taught me to wash the NEW ( or old?) rotors down with soapy water to de - magnetize the lining which will sometimes catch metal pieces ( magnetically?) and cause noise. I did that too.

after washing you rinse off completely with plain water.

on a side note: ( sorry)
do you know of a fuse diagram for a 2000 LS v8 engine which gives fuse numbers and the corresponding output? this would be helpful to my current dillema.

Assuming that no new posts means no new noise. ;)

Thought I'd add a data point to the thread for future reference.

My LS started squealing out of the blue, after having it for ~7K miles  Same as you described: Squeals constantly under moderate pressure.

Assuming something must have gotten glazed (although I wouldn't know how), I took things apart yesterday, used some 60-grit on the pads and rotors, and re-assembled. Noise is gone. :) Went to church this morning, and on the way home, noise is back! :( Am going to try some disc-brake quiet on the outboard pads when I get the chance.

Pads look to be just about new (maybe replaced by the dealership when traded?) and rotors are in good shape. Odd that it would just start up after that many miles.

i have new news also, had my mechanic replace the wagner pads he decided on(uses them all the time and deemed them the best), with raysbestos. as not to jinx anything, its still squeeling!!!(;););))
