ray whos is that and how fast is it

That is Chris Kaiser (LMS West.....unstoppable here on LvC). I do not know how fast it is, or was for that matter....but I am sure he could answer that one.

I'd be interested in sharing some notes on the bottom end things that you have done. Girdle, pump, h or I beams, studs, Stock (cast) crank?, pistons. Then up top; b heads?(ported?) or '03-04 heads?, intake, headers (primary flang sizes), etc.

When I get back from Florida in 2 weeks, I am going to pull a 4.6 I have laying around and send it in for a core credit on a built shortblock and then see what's up. Seems cheaper to do it that way than to buy the parts and piece them together.

Its the exact same shorblock John Mihovetz is running and hes making 1500HP
I've got Manly billet I beams,Custom JE pistons to JMs specs,Obviously studs with a girdle,B heads, and a custom Sheet Metal Intake manifold.
Oh, and a stock cobra oil pump with billet gears.

Did I miss anything?

Nice setup from what I can tell. I have heard of problems using the billet gears in the pump. They tend to chew things up.

The 'b' heads are underrated. I wish the original 4.6's didn't get the crap pistons and rods. Just think what the aftermarket would have been like for our cars and the cobra stangs. Now everybody is going nuts for the '99 and up guys and everybody is jumping on the new 3 valve bandwagon.

And that is an aluminum block too making that kind of silly power. Impressive.

Mihovetz hasn't had a single problem with the oil gears EVER. I think the problem is inproper installation. They have to be set up properly, you cant just stick'em in there.

I talked to him about building a custom dry sump set up and he said its a waste of time and money. And hes got plenty of money!

JP,

If you have them handy, I would like to see the difference on the 60' and 330' from stock 3:07(8)'s to the 4:10's.

Maybe even the 1/4 mph for comparisons.

Did the brown Mark at the track have stock gears? You usually had him out of the hole but reviewing might give me a better idea of the effect of the gears.

What's your impression with the gears vs stock? Here are my guesses.

0-30? Stock car would lose by a car length.
30-70? Stock car would be 2 cars lengths behind
60-100? Stock car in 2nd gear might actually be pulling

BROWN MARK????? Hey....that was me there smarty pants, and the ONLY thing I had that was not stock there was the Steeda timing adjuster..... :N

Nice pix guys. I'm also scared to burn my tires off. Mostly because I can't afford 20" rubber every month

Hey does anyone have any info on a first gen. and a second gen. (both modified) running south from Grand Haven Michigan after the coast guard festival? I came up behind them and ran with them for a while, but I'm pretty sure they are not from the area.

If they were LvC members, I can understand the difficulty in trying to keep up. Did one guy have a license plate 'Sleeper'.

I didn' pay attn. to the plates. I didn't have any problem beating the 2nd gen. off the line from the light but the 1st gen was a little faster than I was, not much. I'm assuming the 2nd gen was all show, dark colored maybe black with 18's or 20's on it. the first gen looked stock but I know it wasn't under the hood.

You're probably right. Or close at least. Everyone told me our cars suck at the 1/8 mile. I disagree, with 4.10s, I can make it a race more often than not. Shift kit and DRs really made a difference in the 1/8th. It's the launch, and my best is still only 2.1x, I've heard of others in the 1.9s. You get out of the hole with a decent reaction time and a 1.9 to 2.1 sixty foot, the opponent better have some serious power to catch ya. Remember you are only talking 75 miles per hour plus in the eighth, less for stock.

Now take the same competition at the 1/4 and you better get a good light and a fantastic launch. Now the opponent's HP means more between the 1/8 mile and the 1/4. My winning % at the 1/4 is less than that at the 1/8. Overall I won 54% of combined 96 runs of 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile races last season. Not bad for a rookie in a luxury coupe. But 34 wins of 48 runs is my 1/8 mile record! Don't tell me our cars don't do well in the eighth! :steering

Ray, don't feel bad Bryan mistook Barney for a brown Mark. He's just jealous he wasn't runnin'. :N

Bryan, if Ray has any of his time slips to that date we ran, I have all mine entered on the 'puter. Maybe that would help ya. If I looked real hard I may find my stack of slips somewhere and figure what number his car was and compare our track numbers. Warning... that track has nasty traction though.

If that was Barney, where the hell was Fred?

And don't worry JP, you'll get your chance at Carlisle, I suspect.

I am Fred.....that is one of my nicknames Fred Flintstone. I even had that painted on my logo on my truck when I had it. Being in Severed Ties I had to have a logo, and that was my logo......the ST with Fred floating over it.....I will have to find the pic and scan it and upload it..... :Beer

I found the pic.....I have attached it.....that was the logo on my back window when I owned my S-10 wif hydraulics on it.

Had to add a goatee to it, and some earrings to it to more match me.....you can barely see the silver hoop in the ear you can see in that pic, but it IS there.....LOL.
