So last night my car was stuck in a spot because of snow... Well I let one of my friends drive while me and 4 others pushed that car out. My friend decided to redline my engine with the steering wheel turned all the way to the left. Now power steering fluid is leaking everywhere.... Any ideas whats wrong?

What's wrong? Your friend is an idiot. You never need to red-line to get out of anything. High RPMs can help, but a red-line is just spinning.

But where is the leak coming from? Cant tell ya too much until we know but if I had to guess I would say the high pressure line is blown. Cheap part wise but a complete pain in the but to replace unless the engine is out!

I cant really tell where the leak is coming from considering I can't drive to my friends garage to lift the car up. All I know is its leaking... somehow fluid managed to make its way onto my alternator? Any ideas on the price of labor to fix this?

Cant even guess without now where it is leaking from. You dont have to lift it to find out. If you really cant, just take it to the shop casue any advice we provide will be pure speculation.

If its one of the lines it will be 1 hour labor, no reason for more than that. At a shop expect to pay double for parts. So the high pressure line for example, might be closer to $60. Given the average labor rates I would expect under well under $200 for a line and fluids and labor. If they flush it may go up a little or just be part of the service.

Thank alot... The only reason I cant tell is cuz the :q:q:q:q is everywhere. I tried lookin from above but the size of the engine leaves little room for lookin... i'm sure you know. If it helps i'm hearing a noise coming from my engine... i'm assuming its my p/s pump.

I would not think the pump would go, possible, but lets hope not. Just take it into a shop. Most shops, small shops, will do a free estimate and put it up on the lift, Just tell them what happened. If you go for the shop, let us know what it is!

I'm assuming its a line because all the power steering fluid just drained out from sitting there... I'll let you know for sure tomorrow. I called my mechanic and he said to come around 6:45 so we can see whats goin on

Well I just talked to my mechanic and he said the p/s pump is gone... He said he believes its leaking oil from somewhere as well but he can't check until the new p/s pump is put on because its leaking p/s fluid everywhere.... I'll post again once I know more.

Maybe multiple leaks. But if a mechanic cant find a leak this severe, then I would walk away. A PS leak under pressure is not too hard to find. Just o verify, you PS fluid is dropping and the color is redish? I only ask because it could also be a blown oil filter adapter gasket - sometimes mistaken as a PS leak.

Well it is my power steering pump. I also need a new belt. The total cost is about $400.... does this seem about right? They're still working on it at we speak. Labor is a killer!

Sounds WAY high to me.....But then again, I do all of my own work. Private message a guy by the name of JBIT here on the forums. He is from your area, and if he has time would prolly help you out.

Yea like I said labor is a killer... normally I would question it a lot more but with the amount of room you have to work with when its your p/s pump i'm not too skeptical of the price... I called a couple other places and they're prices ranged from 385 to 450 for just the p/s pump not including the belt. I'm just happy i'm gettin my car back... 1 day without it is too much
