Search, this has been discussed before. It's supposed to be premium unless you are chipped or I can't remember another mod exactly!

according to the owners manual, it was designed for 91 octane, listed as recommended , but not as required.
dont yell at me, i am just saying what fomoco says.
Seriously???....$3.20 extra on a full tank is a lot of money to ya'll?...I know most of ya'll spend that much on stupid things every week...am I wrong?
The car was designed for 93. Thats what you should run. Will it explode on 87? No but it will have less power due to the knock sensors pulling timing cause of the detonation.
Exactly and it's even possible the slightly better mileage premium will give you will make up for the price difference. I have read articles, no I can't find em' right now, that claim just that.
Due to the stupid high price of gas around here ($3.87+/- reg, $4.05+/- mid, $4.25+/- prem), I'm having to run a mix of reg and mid. I just can't afford premium anymore. I used to run premium all the time because she just runs so good on the good stuff But I can't now. And I'd love to find some ethanol free gas, but there's only one place around here that sells it and they only have 87 octane and it's $4.00 a gallon or more depending on what time of the day it is. I've noticed my gas mileage dropping since I don't run premium exclusively anymore and that is unfortunate. It hit an all time low of 19.9 average this morning And has anyone else noticed that the price difference between the three grades is not 10 cent increments anymore? Now it's 12, 14, 15, even 20 cents difference between the grades. A few weeks ago when gas was relatively cheap, I saw reg for about $3.69 with mid for $3.84 and premium for $4.04 a gal. That was 14 cents from reg to mid and 20 cents from mid to prem I just don't get it.
Do not run reg it will get worse gas mileage and end up costing you more and possibly harm the engine. My stock Marks (a 93-94) did best on mid grade. I haven't experimented with the 98 yet.
