Had a request for some full length subframe connectors. I've been told that gen 2 tanks hang lower then a gen 1, and of course, I've got a gen 1 to work from. Anyway, this is what I've got going so far, there is 1 inch extra clearance from my tank to the brace. I've got to send it out to my customer for a test fit. Hopefully I've got it. Once everything checks, these will be available. No cost determined yet.

Rear mount.

Jog in brace that I'm hoping clears a gen 2 tank. Gen 1 clears without the jog. It adds 1 inch of space.

Finish proto brace. Total length is 79.5 inches.

and on that note. I'm beat. That's 6 hours work sitting there. :)

My other project... 68 F100 flareside.

Putting new floors and cab mounts in.

Nice work. I am not crazy about using the stub to mount onto the rear cradle, but I am interested to see how they work out.

Sadly, there really isn't much of a way around that. The distance from the tank to the IRS subframe is only a couple inches and it didn't look like I could "zee" like I did up front.

Why oh why must you make me want to throw money at you for chassis braces..... Lol

Saturn, can the front braces you build be welded to this piece instead of the car for complete bolt on instead of welding it to the car? That is if this is also completely bolt on. Also, should there not be cross sections between the two to stop side to side twisting?

I'd love to make it more of a "ladder", but there are too many variations of exhaust to make it practical. Sure, I could do it, but each would be custom fitted. As is, I have twice the attachment points the connectors in the SVO have. I ran the braces as far forward as I could up to where the stock subframe is doubled in thickness. Running them further forward is possible, but I don't see any gain to it.

Jessie, Daytona Mills in Beavercreek is my main source as I can buy full sticks. I just have to scare up a truck now and again.

I may have to see how this works out. I still have yet to install the front braces I bought from you. I would really like to weld the back side of the front brace to this brace so I could move it to a different car if I ever wanted to. Just have to wait and see.

You can still move the front braces as you want. The welded pieces are just 1 1/2" by 6 inches with a 1/2" hole 3/4" in from the end. Just make two more, or if you need I can supply extras.

The subframe braces are all bolt on so you can service the IRS subframe if needed.

Finally got some better weather here and time to incorporate some suggestions.

Strapped the rear of the stub to the bar and added a gusset.

Have you ever thought of pulling the interior and install from inside the car?

Its what I did with 2x3 on a 64 falcon to tie the front and rear together.

Nice Fab work.

Well, that's a bit more then most folk want to do to install em.... Part of the design is making it user friendly.

Thanks!

I like the added bracing to the stub there makes it at least look more sturdy :D

ford nut - We normally do thru the floors on all the drag mustangs we do, but I don't think too many folks would be lining up to cut open their Mark VIII street car.

-Saturn beat me to it

Once I finish making a jig off this one, I'm shipping it someone with a G2 to see... /fingers crossed.

Jig is done, made it so I can build either side with it.

I haven't deptermined price yet. I need to get this one shipped for a test fit on a Gen 2. I know it fits Gen 1. (The jog isn't needed on the Gen 1, however I plan to build each set to fit either.)
