I just got an amp hooked up to my factory head unit and speakers, this may sound funny but sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. When I turn the car to on it works all the time, but when the motor is running that's when it wants to work sometimes. anyone have any input?

The remote wire is where the amp gets it's signal to turn on.

If you didn't do the install, I would bring it back to whoever did and have them fix it right.

is that something that I could do like a switch or something, and would that be the reason why it only turns on when the battery is on?

I honestly don't know why it's doing what it's doing. I could understand if the amp came on when the car was running, but not when the key is turned to the on position, but the other way around..? Maybe a flaky connection.

yeah it works sometimes when the car is running then sometimes it doesn't, could it be that the amp is turned up too high, I'm taking the car up there saturday I just came here first to see if there was anything I could tell them.

Maybe the gain on the amp is set too high.

When it stops working, did you have it pumping for a while before it did?

I would just take it back and have them mess with it.
