what is the quickest, least labor intensive way to get the irs pumpkin out at a u-pull?

I just need the housing itself. been having a hard time finding one in my price range and finally realizing the best way to get one for the money I want to spend is to just do it myself.

but man if it aint hot and gettin hotter. I wanna be out there as little as possible with as little tools as possible.

I know I need to pop it loose from the driveshaft and get the mount on the rear cover off. do the axles just pop out after you take the knuckles loose?

any other bolts holding it in place? I think there's two on the front of the housing if I remember correctly?

possible to wiggle it out free of the cage without having to drop it?

a list of socket sizes and other necessary tools would be awesome. tried searching for a "how-to" in the tech articles section but didnt see anything. figured I wouldnt though.

You have to move one knuckle out of the way to get one axle out, undo the 4, 12mm 12 pt bolts from the drive shaft flange and remove the 4 bolts holding the diff to the subframe.

Can't remember the wrech size but its fairly large to hold the top of the mount bolts. I'd also suggest using a socket, extensions, breaker bar and a 4ft extension to brake the bolts loose.

Once that's loose, you should be able slide it off the other axle once you pop it loose with a pry bar.

With 2 mechanically inclined individuals, an hour's worth of work depending on rust.

I've got an empty 8.8 IRS housing sitting on my other work bench.. PM me and we can work something out. I wouldn't want much more than scrap value + shipping
