Well the cheapest boost you could do is put a squirt of NO2 on it...

Or maybe go get some air plane fule for some added juice....

Better yet go get a mark VIII and and pop a tank of NO2 on it or 410 gears..

Just take him to a "Grudge Match" night at Gateway International Raceway. It legal, safe and you get to punk him at the tree.

I saw a 330i smoke the hell out of a Viper cause the dude in the snake was asleep on green. Drag racing or SCCA racing showcases the driver more than the vehicle.

What in the world are you spewing about??? I could hardly follow that! Where do Mustangs and Z28's come into this? We're talking an LS vs a Maxima!! You call the LS old fashioned American hp? Hmmm...it's European last I looked. And speaking of European hp, ever driven a 55 series Benz? I have and we don't have anything that compares to it. The overall car is incredible. But you pay for it. And don't even think about a 65 series....

Hmmm....a little more than 40 lbs don't you think? More like 300 lbs. That will kind of offset the difference in torque off the line the LS has. From then on, it's hp vs. weight and the LS loses that race. The only thing I couldn't come up with that could affect this race is final drive ratios. But V6's normally run a deeper gear...so I wouldn't bet on that helping out any.

Why would you bash cars that use forced induction?? Everyone it heading that direction. You sound like the GM guys who bash the Cobra because it's supercharged. They didn't seem to mind when the Mustang was 50 ci smaller and both were n/a. Now they bitch because the Cobra is s/c. Forget that it's only 281 cubic inches. want some cheese to go with all that whine??? As far as the Supra is concerned, bash it all you want. You have to hunt high and wide to find anything that will outrun one of those that has been properly prepared. 1000 hp isn't unheard of...and it can live if driven properly. Scary fast cars.

Just so you know...I have NHRA Stock Eliminator raced for many years before I gave it up. I set 4 National Records. I drive an 04 Cobra with over 500 rwhp and torque as my daily driver now. The car is an animal. But there are a LOT of cars here in town who can hand me my ass....and many of them are built in Asia or Europe. I know a good running car when I see it and I'm not about to bash someone who has one just because of it's manufacturer. Innovation is innovation and I applaud it no matter where it comes from. It's what gives us all this great technology to play with.

Itsnotmydaddys...race him the way the LS was designed to...on the twisties. You will eat his lunch and send him whimpering. The LS was designed as a handling machine to compete with the BMW 5 series. It will flat out handle one in the twisties. But don't run a Beemer with the V8 on a straight course or drag strip. Once again...you would lose.

Dude - this makes no sense. The Jag is using the DEW98 platform from Ford - it was a Ford platform before Jag was in the picture. On the engines - very little is shared - only the blocks on the V8.

Your european breed is actually a FORD - better quality than anything Jag did up to that point - even though Frod is still loosing it's shirt on Jag.

The s-type does the 1/4 in 15.2sec (the R 13.5). Little more hp and weight than the LS.

The M3 didn't know you were racing him.

if he didnt know i was racing him , would he pull over 4 times next to me on the i-80??? common, maybe you dont know what your yapping about.....

stock jag is making that, i went to the atco raceway in jersey , with stock 16" wheels , x pipe, rear mufflers, iridium plugs, cai and all the filters changed i did best of 14.6@102mph... thats from standstilll...that m3 on the highway what you think it is???sent from heaven???

20001LS8--you started saying :q:q:q:q that im spewing something out...ok you may have the knowledge of the NHRA which means nothing to me...i got a knowledge of street racing , which involves stock enigines, through lightly modded to heavily builded in a stock car chassis, and i know what im talking about.....its not a custom welded farme with 5000hp engine, WTF r u talking about???? then, to be honest i was raised ona turbocharged vehicle, my best build ride was a 90 PGT with a t3/04e on it , engine build from ground up, hp was 348whp and 412tq, best of 1/4 12.1@132mph...speaking of E55 , i meant the 99-02 body style (plain 5.5 litre engine) ...speaking of bashing im bashing the garbage maxima because i dont like it and if his LS is properly taken care of , he should it him without a problem.....also ive never said the LS has american engine, its jag block and some american mystery used, im proud of my AJ28 4.0 engine :N
 
Well Arden...that's now two of us. Neither Quik or I can understand a thing you're trying to get across.

By the way...if you think 12.1's is fast on the street...you have another think coming. You don't know crap from street racing if you think it is. There are a ton of Honda's and SRT4's out there that will spank you all day long with that level of performance. You must be playing in the kiddie sand box. Go find the big boys and see just how much you really know about street racing.

No one here minds you bashing the Maxima. You really shouldn't...just respect it for what it is...but you sure are entitled to your opinion. Just expect to get slapped back is all. I still say...and I would put money on it...put the Maxima up against his '00 LS8 in a drag race, and the Maxima wins hands down if he doesn't add some sort of power adder.

your bolt-ons will not cut it - sure it dropped a half-sec off your time - a stock M3 is a mid-13 car. You still need a full sec to match him - that's 70+hp or dropping 800+ lbs - more.
 
I drive by the lincoln LS plant often, they got 2 LS's and a new t-bird mounted to the roof of the manufacturing plant on angeled pieces of steel, looks pretty cool..

not usefull on the engine block comment but i figured i'd throw .2 cents in the thread ;)
 
Yeah - that's what I mentioned in my post #33 - the blocks are shared but almost nothing else - PCM, heads, internal, .... all different. We looked to the S-type R for the supercharging secrets but other than the 'ideas' none of the component were easily interchangeable - plus they cost $$$$

I beg to differ that the late 70s-to about 91ish was when Jaguar was in the dumps but not the early years they where actually extremely reliable and their inline 6 DOHC motor was one of the most verstile motors ever built. I am not trying to be rude by posting this I just think you ought to know. My 1967 XKE Roadster Series I, was my fathers and he had one issue in the 37 years he owned it. Still to this day its considered one of the sexiest cars ever built.

See, I've told people that before. They say "the LS is just a de-tuned stripped Jaguar".

I've always said...The Jaguar is an LS with a better engine and more bling...oh and the cool cat hood ornament../

But then again...in reality...there is not much in common with the Jag. Aside from basic structure.
 
I don't doubt your experience - it is a industry fact that Jaguar's quality has been steadily improving since the Ford purchase....

Jaguar has achieved a remarkable quadruple success in the latest J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study released yesterday in the US.

• Improved to second its position overall in the survey
• The highest-ranked European nameplate
• The Gold Plant Quality Award in Europe for Halewood
• Massive improvement for the Jaguar X-TYPE

This major achievement for Jaguar was led by its best performing model, the X-TYPE sedan, which improved 37 points in the study, a 35% leap over last year's results. The J.D. Power Study ranks new vehicle quality after 90 days in the hands of customers.

In 2000, a significant investment was made in Halewood to transform the plant from a mass-production assembly plant for the Ford Escort to a world class manufacturing facility for the Jaguar X-TYPE. It meant that for the first time Jaguar would have a plant that housed all four stages of the production process under one roof – totally new body construction and final assembly facilities, along with refurbished press and paint shops.

The transformation of the manufacturing facility was complemented by a culture change strategy, which ensured Halewood's people and processes were ready to build a luxury vehicle. Jaguar invested in over a million hours of training in the Halewood workforce.

Recording one of the biggest gains in the JD Power Customer Satisfaction study in the United States, jaguar has moved from 13th position in 1996.

Thanks I am fully aware of Jaguars awesome jump in quality and I am so happy they are owned by Ford well some days I am. See they totally destored the concept car dubbed the F-Type (http://www.outrefranc.com/salons/geneve00/img/jaguarftype.jpg )which was a total throw back to the E-Type (XKE) days. Also I have been in nurmous Jaguar dealers and they are hands down some of the nicest people I have ever met. There ratings over the last 4-5yrs (JD Power) have been next to perfect and thats a defent plus,especailly when usually its all Japs on the top of that list.

- that's was all my point was - it took $million$ invested by Ford to help them out - and it's paid off in their improvement - and now are positioned to be Ford's lux line - not Lincoln. I like Jags - alot.
 
Yes I understand your point but sometimes when I am at a car show people always ask me is it reliable and I sick of the "bad rep" that they earned back in the 80s. I usually tell people to go to a book store or the internet and read up on the history of Jaguar besides Ferrari its one the worlds most fastinating car companies ever. This is why I just totally disagree when people think all Jaguars are like that. To be quite honest my 88 XJS V-12 Jaguar (also formly my fathers) is still a well built unit. Now there workmanship in regrads to paint wasnt the best on it. But the XKE was in great shape before being totally restored to concours condtion.

I like Quik,,, alot!! LOL!! JK, Im with you on Jag. They received a bad rep in the 70's and 80's. Why would anyone want to put a Chevy 350 into a Jag? Electrical and mechanical problems. Jag was on its way to turning things around. Ford just accelarated it. BTW do you all know Ford also owns Land Rover, Volvo, Aston Martin and Mazda?

Ya, My parents said they would never buy another ford after all the porblems with my car. I laughed when they went a bought a volvo instead.

Please...re-enroll in the high school you dropped out of and take English 101 again...and again.

You are the one who made the claim "I know street racing" with your big bad 12.1 second car. Well, I would suggest you get the September 2005 issue of Carcraft and turn to page 80. You will get an idea of what it's REALLY like if you want to play with the big boys on the street. And when you read it, (oops...I forgot...you need to take English a couple of more times first)...ok...when you have someone read it to you...remember that this guy has competition out there. Since I know for a fact there are similar cars in the NYC area, I can only assume that like everything else you've spewed, your "knowledge" of street racing and horsepower is nothing but :bsflag:
