Raced my brother ecoboost f-150 then bought a 5.0

Last week I raced my brothers 2011 F-150 Supercrew FX4 ecoboost loaded with everything but moonroof against my LS. He won 2 out of three times. The last time I had a perfect launch with just enough wheel spin to get the tail out a hair and it hooked making it to where he didn't get much ahead of me and I was able to catch up to him and beat hi by a hair.

So now I'm in texas for a week(odessa in case anyone wants to meetup) to help my friend move and he's a massive ford fan and he knew I'd been wanting a truck so yesterday we stopped by the local ford dealership and I drove away in a 2012 F-150 supercrew XLT 5.0 4x4. So now I have to try and see if I can get my plane ticket refunded lol.

I'm still keeping my LS...

Last picture is of what my first mod will be: exhaust. Probably followed by either a tuner or wheels. Feel free to post comments and yes I do like the color.

Only thing missing is 3.73 gears but I guess 5% difference won't matter :/

Tires are Michelin LTX A/T 2 which is a much better tire than my brother fx4 according to tirerack.

Do you have a v6? And only a gen 1. Im quite suprised you beat him that once. So do you think a gen 2 with the v8 would beat the f150 eco then?
 
Yes he does. All manual's were V6's

You tease. For a second there I saw 5.0 and got excited. I was hoping for a real 5.0 coyote stang :)

Yea I was kind of surprised I beat him too but I figured I was probably into the 14's and now I know I am in the ls. People reallt underder estimate that v6 as it screams from 4-7k rpm. Id guess im in the 260ish hp range.

I'm loving the truck so far and am still amazed they sold me it for zero down but I did have a 821 credit score which was also a suprise to me.

I'm also thinking of changingthe grill but that will be mod 5 or 6.

I'm sure a V8 would smoke the ecoboost easily and even the 5.4 by a car length. But the 5.0 is a beast.

So you didn't want a mark Lt?? I like the looks of it more but it's not as fancy in the gauge cluster area and has the old 5.4 which doesn't compare to that coyote.

Mustang 5.0s are nicer but frankly sometimes you really need a truck for the functionality. Ive considered getting an aviator or Mark LT just because the LS is horrible in terms of functionality. Trunk sucks and back seats suck.

I just happen to have a 2012 F150 catalog right here. Engine options are...

3.7 V6 302HP 278TQ 16/22mpg
5.0 v8 360HP 380TQ 15/21mpg
3.5 Twin Turbo 365HP 420TQ 17/23mpg
6.2 V8 411HP 434TQ 13/18mpg

Then there is 80 *******s everywhere about the mpg numbers because of how many different ways these trucks can be equipped.

I find that if I take everything out of the packages/boxes/suit cases/etc and spend 1/2hour I can fit things in my trunk. Maybe an extra 5 minutes to clear those goose neck trunk hinges.

Don't believe those numbers(which are for 2wd) because it's pretty unanimously agreed that the 5.0 and ecoboost get the same real world fuel economy. I just took my exhaust off and went for a 30 mile drive and after stomping on it all over I'm still getting 15.6 according to the computer. That's on par with my brothers ecoboost so far and I don't even have 200 miles yet.

A gen2 might be able to bet a ecoboost if they can get off the line fast enough because when my brother loads the turbos he launches pretty hard and doesn't let up much.

marcredd, are you talking about my ls because hell no I feel the 3.0 has more potential for the $. :D

I think T-money meant the non turbo ecoboost.

I would expect a turbo setup making 360 horses to beat ours everytime.

Non-turbo ecoboost? Sorry that doesn't exist. Maybe you mean the 3.7 non-turbo and non DI motor?
 
Yes the standard duratec.

Im not very familiar with ecoboost thought they had some that were n/a.
 
Nice truck. I traded my ls in for my 05 fx4 supercrew 3 years ago. Great truck. Trying get into a 2011 ecoboost fx4 next summer. Keepin my fingers crossed. Every one of those new engines are awesome.

i call b.s on you beating the ecoboost in your v6 ls. i have a lot of experience with the ecoboost and the 5.0 and there is no way in hell you beat him. good choice on the 5.0 if you want any pointers lemme know.

i have recently actually, a black 06 ls8 ultimate pretty much exactly like yours, quick car dont get me wrong there but it is not as fast as the ecoboost. i drive my 5.0 daily and my father has an ecoboost so i know very well that a lincoln ls is not comaprable to the ecoboost or the 5.0 for that matter.

Sorry but it's true he's the one that called it too(because it was real close and we didn't have anyone at the finish line to judge). Remember that he has about the heaviest ecoboost and I have the lightest LS. I'd race a 06 bone stock ls as I believe I'd beat it in my stick LS. I have Intake Exhaust and tune( plus some pretty grippy tires. Edit: accel coils too if you want to count that but I don't think I really gained much from that and I'm running a 180 degree thermostat which this tune is for.

I'm thinking I'll go with a tune before I head back to California then header back exhaust sometime after I get back. At that point I'm going to decide if I want to go with the roush supercharger that's supposed to be fully ready(tune included) in February or go with a Boss intake.

I didn't want the fx4 because of the center console and want to be able to seat 6.

No its not supposed to be faster than either of those since it does makes less than 300 horse.

I bet alax could run with it whenever he finally gets his back.
