This is for my 97 LSC w/ 180k miles. It was running fine with no problems until my sister calls and tells me the car overheated after sitting in a parking lot. Went to check it out and it turned out the fuse blew for the vlcm/fan. Since I replaced the fuse the fan is always on from the second I start the car, even when the car is cold and the A/C is off. Still having an overheating issue after refilling and burping but there are plenty of threads for troubleshooting that. I just want to know what would cause the fan to stay on.

I just went through this with one of my Marks. The fan was always on. I didn't have the overheating problem though. I found that the 5mm nut holding the plug non the VCLM was loose. After tightening it up, the fan operated properly. Prehaps it is working then you hit a bump and it looses connection. You overheat. Good luck. Hope this helps.

I'll check it tomorrow when I can work on it. Is the vlcm located in the same area as the GEN1?

NO, on the Gen II it is located inside the right front passenger fenderwell. Right by the compressor.

My fan never turns on. Someone was gonna send me one but I guess he changed his mind. Fortunatly the cars coolong system works well enough that the car never gets above 204*
