My grandfather picked up a 03 lincoln signature town car last few days in florida and drove up here to Tennessee and on the way here the radio went completely out. I was wondering is this a common problem with the Town cars? When i turn it on its complete static dont get anything from anystation. Just straight static. Fuses are good checked those. Sounds almost like the antenna wire came loose or something. Was just curious if its common or if anyone has had this issue

On the old JBL systems you could count on it, but I figured the new stuff would be better. . .

Go figure.

Check wiring connection to rear window.

Check wiring that goes to rear window. Most Towncars 98 and newer have the radio antenna built into the rear window. It is actually very easy to accidentally damage or disconnect while cleaning the inside of the rear window. There is also wiring for the rear window defroster there. I can't remember if they are both the same connector or not. If that doesn't solve it, trace the antenna connection from the back of the "Head Unit" as often they disconnect there too.

03 Signature Series should be an Alpine System with Sub! My 2000 Sig was!

Good Luck:D

My town car came with tinted windows and i heard that having tinted windows can make the reception :q:q:q:qty....a new aftermarket radio would give you a better tuner now mine works better... and the 98-02 tc's antenna on the back window is for the phone

Not necessarily. If it's cheap Luminarc™, or Solargard™ metallic tint, then yes. But high end stuff like non metallic 3M film does not interfere wit radio signals. Sometimes it pays to spend the extra few bucks for the good stuff. Like when antennas are built into rear windows.

and the 98-02 tc's antenna on the back window is for the phone

the phone ant is the little one that sticks up off the window the radio ant is gonna be a zig zag line across the top of the glass (looks like the same material as a defroster)

Chicken viii is right

The Radio antenna isn't always zigzag either.
My AM radio reception blows chunks, but FM is good.
Both my last 2 Towncars had way better radio reception.:(
