random ?

If you are looking for a fast @ss car then you either own the wrong car or you have to spend some very nice hard earned cash. These cars are fast but not nearly as fast as the new V6's/V8's out there today. Your rear will be handed to you if you don't race wisely. This subject has been covered on here many, many times.

and they didn't run it in OD. ;)

the qualifier "stock" has been called into question a few times in the past as well.

with that gearing the car couldn't get out of its own way. boring.

you'll also notice the car accelerated as slow as balls up top. i don't have that much room to accelerate so slowly. so screw that. boring.

Well they took a stock 93 and blueprinted it then took off the mirrors and took it to Bonneville.

It went 182 mph. Looks kinda like mine. ;)

ya..and? mind you that was also with 2:47 gear, no cats, dual exhaust, lowered, belly pan and several other modifications..but sure if you consider that stock...try driving that car on the street btw.

Didn't all those modifications only yield like 10 more mph? I know that 10 requires a lot of work in that range but not worth it. It's still nice to know they did 170ish before all that and removing the rear brakes. Very under-rated car.
EDIT: Nevermind that was done before.

Well seeing no OD was used that's about right for a rear end ratio.

Those fluid temperatures they recorded aren't even right. Definitely a risky endeavour. The most you wanna see on a 4r70w is like 190. LOL. Pretty neat nonetheless. They could've easily blown that engine and tranny sky high. I'll bet the valvetrain in that engine looked lovely after those passes. :p

Pen Gun...it's simple..what is the speed your car sees the MAJORITY of the time? on average, 35-40 mph probably? low end hp and torque is what you want with a street car..that is what you "feel" when accellerating, who cares about the top end speed limit that your mark viii can reach after god knows how long with your foot to the floor on the highway?? by the time you even reach 110 mph you're probably just about hitting the traffic ahead of you anyway or your competitor is exiting the highway. I would rather have a quick car off the line with good mid range power than something that screams on the top end but can't move out of it's own way from a stop.

I live in the country. We have no stoplights and my slowest speed limit is about 45 mph. I have to go to town to find a stoplight.

All my driving is highway. Went 100 mph yesterday just to show some anxious guy in a Chevy what was possible, he disappeared pretty quick.

All my cars have been built for the highway, I have not lived in a city for over 20 years. My Cutlass was built to humiliate 5 liter Fords. It when put into second on the turbo 400 gave me max torque at about 70 mph. That was somewhere near 560 ft/lbs from the 8.2 liter motor. Was a lot of fun to watch their faces when baby started to squeal ... right beside them. She would go about 115 in second.

Not everyone starts from a stop, I really have none around here so how she flys means much more to me than some drag race setup.

Peegun i understand you
And nowhere did i see you state that you top out the mark when in od
(The car would actually go slower)
I no longer do high speed runs like i used to
the risk is to great for me( imo i have kid and wife to support) cant miss a day to be in jail
I did have the cruse set at 98 the other week in ca though.

The hard acceleration and getting pinned back into your seat is more fun for me than just "going fast"..but hey whatever is enjoyable to you. I guess we have different opinions on street cars.
