Rattle at cold start

05 Ls V8, 92k on the dash. Just recently bought the car and have no knowledge on the history (although it’s clean and beautiful). on cold startup it has a rattle i’m almost certain is coming the passenger side valve cover. it only last about 20 seconds or so (assuming it’s oil pressure related) then it goes away and sounds perfectly fine and never comes back until it’s cold started again. also while under hard acceleration there’s a slight rattle around 2k and up rpm, sounds like it’s coming from the same place but not sure as it only does it under load. help me out.

that would make a lot of sense, i have a bank 1 lean code i forgot to mention.

Yup. The cam phaser is going bad. There is a "lock pin" that "holds" the phaser locked until proper oil pressure is reached.

Some of this may depend on the weight of the oil being used... and ambient temps.

You may also want to do a title search to check for an odometer rollback, (yes this still happens).

Hope you can update us here. We might deal with the rattle at cold start issue on my buddy's 05 LS. The previous owner mentioned the bank 1 lean code so we'll see. It's in the shop for the mounting of new tires from 4Wheelonline plus the alignment.
