I know I am beating a dead horse with this thread, but I am still confused. I think I read every single thread on this forum regaurding the sway bars/bushing/sizes/etc. and I still don`t know what size I have. Everything I read seemed to contradict what I read right before that!! I have a 2002 LS V6 with 17" chrome wheels, wooden shifter and steering wheel, and basket weave seats. I don`t think I have the sport package, but I`m lost at this point. Please help guys! (and laught at me while you`re at it!) :D

Some years offered a "premium" package that has the sport suspension, 17" wheels but the base appearance

Can you post a pic of this LS, it does sound like it's a base model where someone added wheels to it.
the base model should be sitting on 16's

We're going to help you get some bushings for your model LS.

Guys can you give me a hand here, he approached me via a PM but I didn't want to give him the wrong answer.

I recommended to measure the diameter of the sway bar.

1 1/16 in diameter or 27mm ~ non-Sport size

1 3/16" in diameter or 30mm ~ Sport size

It be best if you had access to a Vernier Caliper and get into the wheel well and measure the sway bar diameter.

Sounds like a premium sport with a v6 motor. I have a friend with the seats and all, like you say yours has, just with a v8 and chrome bumper trim

Just my two cent

There it is guys. Thanks for your help! I know this has been discussed time and time again, but I can`t seem to figure out for sure and don`t want to order the wrong thing! I really appreciate the help!

Trade you rims with money on top !

It's got to be a Premium Sport with those 17's

I'm guessing 30mm diameter sway bar but I'd really like to see a Vernier Caliper measurement on it before I'd order anything.

That's what I did when I was confused on mine.

You're in luck with it being a Gen I ... don't have to cut the brackets like on the Gen II's

Thanks for all your help as always! Yes I have the premium package with upgraded suspension but looks like a base. Got the chrome trim. 01V6. Now I need to work on the wheel wobble, think it may be the bearings.

Pretty sure, Tireman is running a Premium Sport like yours.

Absolutely LOVE my rims bigrig! Only bad thing is they are pretty hard to find! One of them is bent, and its tough to find one affordable that`s not damaged! I`ve read about the Gen2`s sway bar bushings, and thank goodness I don`t have to deal with that

Yup and your going to need a swivel and long extension, like 3 foot.
You'll need to get underneath and loosen the DCCV on it's bracket and move it out of the way.

A second person underneath is best.

I thought chrome trim on the bumpers = non sport

Looks just like my friends (white ine in my sig). She just has a color matched waterfall.
Didn't know premium sports came as v6

Me either. There must not be many out there!

The only difference between the Premium and Sport (besides the seats) are the chrome strips and lack of SST shifter. All the sport "goodies" are on the premium. My guess has always been that Lincoln had a lot of left-over 1st gen parts and wanted to find a way to use them.

Huh ? Digital vernier caliper ?

That was a Digital Caliper.... vernier refers to the scale that would be on it.

Like this:

Just a technicallity, but wanted to give ya a hard time early in the AM

oh yeah, well .... have a look at the digital version, see the scale ?
it's there in case the battery runs out, I have one in my tool box downstairs.

so there! :p

That is a main scale, not a vernier scale

@ jhy6msu,

http://energysuspension.com/universal-products/sway-bar-bushings.html

30mm = P/N 9.5171G (add: G- black)

Don't get the red ones and make sure they are greasable.

I'd really hate to be the one that steered you wrong on your part purchase,
it's best you measure your sway bar diameter before ordering.

You can swing by any shop and kindly ask them if the could measure it for you.
just point the wheel out so you can reach in and see the sway bar, find a clean spot and determine the size from there.

Wrap a strip of paper around the stabilizer bar and mark where it meets itself. Measure that distance in mm and that gives you the circumference. Divide the circumference by 3.14 and that gives you the diameter. Done
