Hello all. Does anyone have a suggestion for a dealer who ships rebuilt or new transmission for a LS V8. Thanks all

You're better to find a transmission shop ...Indy only no big box stores and have them rebuild it with a three year warranty...everytime I hear someone in need of a rebuild I can't help but wishing I could have everyone go to my guy at A&B Transmission shop ...the guy is a flipping genius and has done over 5 LS's transmissions with full upgrade

Any dealer can order a Motorcraft rebuilt transmission directly from Ford Parts. They will need your VIN number to verify fitment.
Last I knew... Ford still had some new ones in stock.
It's around $3k. Not sure if there is a shipping charge to get it to the dealer.
Obviously installation would be extra... unless you plan on doing it yourself.

If there are any new ones out there for a good price, I'd jump on that.
Like the others said, get Fomoco parts installed w/3 year warranty either by Ford/Lincoln or a reputable and competent tranny rebuilder.

I'll disagree and say find a company that specializes in remanufacturing the 5R55 to address the weaknesses. Rockauto used to have them, but the last time I checked that was no longer the case. Most local shops, even the ones that claim to be 5R55 specialists, are going to leave something to be desired. The weak points of the transmission are well known, and there's a couple companies out there that do the rebuild process right. Go that route and the transmission will outlive the car.

Most of the quirks were worked out of the 5r55s... by the time production of the LS ended.
A reman from Ford Parts SHOULD,,
(and I say should), have all the bugs worked out... and all the updated parts installed.
you should get 200k miles out of a Ford reman, (or new for that fact).
The major killers of transmissions... is usually improper maintenance... or the wrong fluid.

Oh man Thank you. That's the best one I have seen yet. I've been searching all week rebuild vs new and this company looks like the best one and it's even the best price as well. Thank you once again for the link

Ok , I got all Bell Housing bolts out and only 4 for the torque converter, and all the cables and wires detached. I know it's hard to separate the 2 but damn it's all aluminum so I can't hit it hard. Any suggestions for me? I need to get that transmission out today and separating the two is all is holding me up

The dowel pins that line up the engine and trasmission to each other are made of steel. Age and the elements cause the dissimilar metals to corrode... basically gluing the transmission to the dowel pins.
The trick is to use a torch, (small propane cylinder type), and heat the transmission case at the dowel pins... not the dowel pins themselves.
The aluminum will expand faster than the steel. Then spray some PB Blaster on the dowel pins and let it sit for a couple minutes. With some wiggling... the transmission should come off.
BE SURE YOU RE-INSTALL SOME OF THE BOLTS BEFORE DOING THIS.
Putting some of the bolts back in will keep the trans from falling on your head and injuring you... or worse... when the trans comes off the dowel pins.

I got it. Thanks for all your help everyone. It broke the input shaft for the torque converter. Nothing like 40yrs ago with my last transmission job was a old C4. Once again thank you all for your help and God Bless

Don't reuse the torque converter either. That should be replaced with the transmission. Either new or rebuilt. Preferably a new TC.
