Recommend me a torque converter...

The whole idea is to put you in a better place to launch the car.
H.P isnt what your looking for.
Torque is what your after.

Exactly.

All a looser(higher stall) converter really does is let the engine get into the powerband quicker. It allows you to use the power you have more efficiently.

Comparing that to an increasing in HP is so hard to do since there are many factors that affect how a TC works. Calling up Circle D, Art Carr and Edge and asking for a 3000 stall converter for your Mark will get you three different TCs that will behave and stall differently

The marauder and mach converters are essentially the same as the mark converter. Ive heard of people buying them and having them "re-stalled". You will get a stock performing converter for 350 bucks.

I do that for people all the time. Usually they only have to buy a marauder converter if they have a car like a thunderbird that doesn't already have the 11&1/4 diameter converter. For these markVIII's if you can find a 96+ converter (mustang GT units are the same) you don't really need to buy the marauder converter. The parts can be sent for furnace brazing and all of the bearing components are readily available. The clutch can be upgraded to any number of clutch types that are better than any OEM design. I prefer High Carbon materials but I used Kevlar for years with great results as well.

and that company ^^ is the only one I would adamantly recommend NEVER EVER EVER BUYING A CONVERTER FROM... DirtyDog FTL....

And this is a guy who has never owned anything from me and has no clue what he is talking about....Here we go again
I have done more of these converters than about anyone out there. All in all I was trying to say that spenind money on a marauder converter to increase stall on a markVIII is not going to help anything. The marauder converters use the exact same stall controlling components.

Tried them all pretty much and the best times and driveablitly I found from Edge Racing.

Problems with them are that their converter is nothign more than a cavalier converter with ford splines. Non billet lightweight front cover, excessively weak lockup piston, unbrazed parts, weak roller clutch and even if you pay for the upgraded parts to make them strong enough they won't put them in there because they figure you will never know the difference. If you look at the pictures they put on ebay you will see all of these things.

I just want to make sure people avoid the mistake of buying a dirtyd0g converter plain and simple...

It is amazing how a person can know absolutely nothing about something or someone yet have absolutely no problem degrading them in public every chance he gets. Your word is spit because you know nothing about what you speak.

I have no idea what the beef is between you and this company, but if you're going to follow him around in threads and bash him, at least include pertinent information about why you feel this way.

Don't just say "don't buy stuff from this guy," say "don't buy stuff from this guy because (insert reason here.)"

Because three people I personally know had catrastrophic failure of their Dirtyd0g converters within 50-300 miles of installation. These failures led to brand new rebuilt transmissions needing to be rebuilt at the cost of the owners, and Darren at BC auto....

I just don't want to see more people get screwed Dirtyd0g style.... I also have heard of more failures, I just personaly know of three.

Just because you read about it on a forum doesn't mean you know the people. The truth is you just like to run your mouth without a clue. If you notice all situations that claim to have the problems root from the same vendor. The only person you do know who you claim has a problem will not make the same claim himself. He actually thanked me for helping him out on the issue. There was nothing wrong in that converter. He replaced the transmission to correct the issue. I actually rebuilt the converter for him at no cost just to make him happy. Now you are the only one unhappy about it.
How many times do you want to hash this out. The words to describe your actions are slander and stalking.
Alan

I suggest ONLY running a circle-D convertor PERIOD.

no bashing of other vendors products or services or reputation...
because that stuff is really not needed.

BUT.. if you want a HANDS DOWN rock solid torque convertor.
http://www.circledspecialties.com/

you WILL NOT find a better convertor ANYPLACE.

P.S. I did not join LVC in Jan of 2009 to protect my reputation.

nor do I have ANY business relations to Circle D, they do not pay nor provide parts for my car in order to get endorsements from me.

my suggestion OF this company is based on their PRODUCT ALONE and how well their product performs.

Who are you talking about?

I could really care less what you say, I have seen the evidence of what your converters do, and I wouldn't touch one with a 39 and a half foot pole.... and I hope nobody else buys from you and gets to experience the same fun of replacing their trans and converter less than 500 miles after installing it....

Maybe you should spend less time on damage control and trying to patch up your reputation and more time in your shop improving your :q:q:q:qty converters.

I will be putting a Circle D converter in my car....

So Alan, why did Lonnie drop you and pick them up?

That would be because I told him to screw off.
The real question is why is stalking someone you know nothing about to bad mouth them so important to you?
Have you had damaged parts that I built in your hands? No you saw pictures that competitors of mine showed to you. You are only seeing one side of the story and you fell for it.
Why don't you put the forward drum from the one you are talking about in your hand and try to figure out where damage came from. Those are not supposed to look like bellville springs they were flat steels.
Alan

Your right, I have only seen three failures personally, but I wonder what Darren and Lonnie could say.... I bet there were many many more than three....

All I can hope is that by you trying to cover your ass on a public forum that everyone that reads this will realize what a tool you are and how :q:q:q:qty your stuff is... The internet is a bitch when it come to the spread of knowledge, it's a lot harder to screw people over and over and have them not communicate that and have the word get out....
