Removable Lower Grille

On the lower passenger's side of my 01 LS V8 Sport bumper there is a removable piece of the grille I haven't really seen this on other LSes and was wondering if everyone has it and what it does

It's there for access to a tow point I believe. Alot of people on here have said stuff about them before especially when they break or lose it because you can't find them around.

So to tow it you'd hook it up through the grille then?

No but it can be used that way. If you look you see a bracket for mounting a toe hook.

You know the ones that all the ricers have sticking way out the back for no reason?
