Removed baffles - Buzzing sound getting old.

So laugh if you want, but a while back I removed the big air baffles from the middle section of the air intake assembly, and capped off the holes. I had done this before on a Cadillac STS and the out come was nice, just a bit louder, not too noticable.

But on this thing it sounds awful! It sounds like I'm constantly following a ricer with fart can. Is this normal?

I have the factory airbox and filter, the only remaining modification is that I removed and capped the baffles.

I see that the KN Intake kit completely replaces that piece, no baffles. So really, is this what everyone with the KN Intake drives around listening to?

Don't get me wrong, it SWEET when I get on it, but cruising between 35 and 70 MPH is where I normally drive, and that's not a good sound.

Or is it me?

Now, I removed my baffle and ehh not much for me. I got the adapter and filter and I loved it. It did buzz more than with the complete kit. The complete kit with the tube and all sounds more deep and throaty. I have a clip in the video clip thread.

I actually liked the buzz of the stock tube with the adapter. The first day I got it on I was between some tall buildings on a narrow street and it sounded like a Indy car. Then I got to my destination which was actually a hospital ( my daughter was born a few days prior ) and in the parking deck I ripped it hard and holey sh*t did it sound cool!
 
Here I go with another question.

I don't know about in the automobile industry but generally a baffle is to reduce or block noise. Is that what all those funny baffles are for on the LS OEM intake? This thing looks like it was a trial and error gizmo that a bunch amatures designed with all the compartments going in different directions. It also looks like a potential source for air leaks.

The after market intakes look so much more cleaner and well designed.
