I swear to god I searched lol I promise.

I've been having an issue where my ac only will blow hot hot hot air. After reading here I noticed the fuse was blown. Replaced the fuse. Worked for 5 minutes. Went back to only heat, yep fuse was blown again.

Went ahead and replaced the DCCV... Replaced the fuse again and wallah!! It worked........ For 5 miles.

So here I am. $150 into the ac repair. Annnd not really any progress.

I did replace the fuse again and drove it to work with the AC off... No blown fuse.

So as long as the ac is switched off I don't have any fuse blowing issue.

Is it the AC Clutch do you think?

Thanks for any help.

Btw... 2003 LS V8

No, low refrigerant won't blow the fuse (ever), it would just keep the compressor off.
It is possible that your clutch is shorting out. While not common, it has happened before. Unplug the electrical connector to the clutch at the compressor. Drive again with the AC on. It won't work, but the point is to see if the fuse blows or not. If it still does, then the problem is in the wiring somewhere. If it doesn't, then it's the clutch.

You can buy and replace only the coil to the clutch. I would recommend that you do that. A dealer will tell you to not only replace the whole clutch, but to also replace the compressor.

Cool, will do.

Could the relay be bad?

Yes, but the odds are low that it could fail in such a way as to blow that fuse. You can eliminate the relay as a suspect by unplugging the clutch.

You do bring one thought to mind though. If you confirm that the clutch is shorting, it has stressed the relay and may cause it to fail later. You may want to replace the relay at the same time as you replace the clutch coil (if the coil is the problem).

Do you know if there is a thread on how to replace the clutch coil if its bad? I can't seem to find one through search or the stickies. Not sure if I'm using the right terms

Thanks guys. Hopefully it's not that because that looks to be a PITA lol

Not really. I (with what little help my daughter gave) changed out the compressor in her LS in about 3 hours. That included having to replace all the stuff on the front of the compressor as I somewhat foolishly didn't get a "complete" compressor. If you open up the system be sure you replace the receiver/dryer.

we had to replace the coil because it shorted, then the whole thing died. so then we replaced the entire compressor.
