here could be a decent model from Clarion, they dont make the best stuff but they usually dont make trash either...

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_31822_Clarion-VX401.html

one thing about this model that I'm unsure of is that is the back of the radio looks a little different from how most of their models are set up, so I dont know if this is one of those where clarion is buying them from somebody else and putting their name on them...

is the p89 the all metal framed double stacked 9? that might be the one my father has. always been a real reliable gun.

EDIT: probably not, I didn't think they allowed double stacked mags in the peoples republic... unless it has something built in to limit the mag.

Yup and yup. I have 5 15rd magazines and an 18 rounder. They are pre-limit mags. The 18 rounder, for some reason, has NEVER locked the slide back after the last round.

I have this on the door from the side of the house (behind the gate) into the garage....

This is my daughter's first time at the range with my SRC9 (disregard the tape... those shots are just messing around).....

Slightly back. On topic. If i use the usb could i watch. A movie on my phone and get sound from the car speakers? Surely i could listen to the msic from my phone or does the usb have a different use.

depends on the phone and the radio, most of the time, usb enables a data mode for ipods/iphones, and you cant really do anything from the device. android rarely ever has anything work over usb.

BUT every new phone will allow you to do whatever you want with your phone and just stream the sound over bluetooth (so basically exactly what your trying to do, but with out having to connect ANY wires at all)

So i would be looking for a blutooth radio/ headunit. I have never used blutooth before is is difficult to set up?

My phone is an android. Lg optimus g

tore the doors apart today to replace the 6x8's and found a terrible hatchet job someone performed in order to mount 6.5 full range speakers up front. Here is a pic of what I found.

Both sides were like that . There were half inch gaps between the "cutting board" and the door so the speaker wasn't even "sealed"

Forgot to take a pic of the new/ original sized speakers in there before I put it back together :-( they were just cheap 35 a pair Scosche brand speakers but they sound good.

Also picked up a 12' Dual brand sub and a box from walmart while I was there. all told into it 90 bucks and sound a ton better. Still going to order a set of 10's i have to lay yhe 12 down on its back because its too tall for the trunk.

if you can use the internet app on your phone to search and find a local pizza joints phone number, then call and order a pie, then you can set up BT... lol

actually its one of the easiest things to do.
let the radio turn on, maybe press a button. open BT settings on your phone, turn it on, search (if it didn't automatically), select the radio when it shows up, then confirm the pair/pass code. then probably confirm once or twice to grant access to your phone book so yo can look numbers from your phone up on the radios buttons...

thats it, it will automatically connect to the cars radio every time you turn the car on.

another food for thought, do you need a CD player? most people these days are either using flash media, iPods, or their phones to carry or stream with. if you dont, a lot of brands make Digital Media Receivers now that still have a radio tuner, USB, aux in, and BT, but they leave out the CD/DVD drive. this either usually saves you a few bucks or allows for something like the screen to be a little bigger and able to show more information. this also usually allows for the unit to be smaller (shallow)

honestly, the last two DVD/CD players I have put in my cars have never had a single disc in either of them, not even to test lol
at first I was using an Ipod a lot, now all of our cars and my work bench have a 32gb flash drive in the glove boxes with at least a couple hundred albums on them, once every couple of months, I gather them all up, and put any new music on them all keeping them all the same and current. if not that, then streaming Pandora via BT from the phone.

BTW: you have to give the original hacker some credit for using all seven screw holes, most people just use the three from the triangle or the four square corners lol not going to lie, when installing speakers that have all those hole in honda civics, I use all seven! their speaker spacers/adapters have all seven holes. some may say that its a little over kill, but I've seen nasty stuff happen when the V-Tec kicks in

LOL Vtech yo

I didnt know they made digital media receivers like that shows what I have missed in the last 14 or so years. So what would you recommend for around 150 bucks. Don't really want to spend more than that. I will probably have a shop install it since I have heard the LS will not start with factory radio removed. Can you shed any light on that?

as false as it gets... the car could care less if there is a radio in it...

So what would you recommend for around 150 bucks

here is a pretty good alpine, nothing to fancy, just a simple basic good quality DMR, with top notch parts inside for quality sound
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-u2QmBHTGQy2/p_500UTE52BT/Alpine-UTE-52BT.html

and its not too bad on the features, it has SW input, so you can buy a part like the Metra ASWC to keep the steering wheel controls working, plenty of outputs for a full system of amplifiers, and an input for SiriusXM if ever interested

the best part of this using is its sound processing... it has a 9 band parametric EQ, a 24bit DAC (huge for listening to digital music), and a really good active crossover system.

the only two down side to the alpine(well there are a couple of people that would call one a down side, myself not included) is that alpine sound very clear but they do not go "as loud" as other brands. actually they are smart and won't allow the radio to be turned up too loud into the distortion range (after a point of turning the volume up, it kinda stops getting louder) but at maximum volume it still sounds pretty clear which extremely few radios will do, the other is that the USB and AUX in are in the front panel which means that there will be stuff sticking out of the dash when plugged in

however some people like to crank their sh!t to the max no matter how it bad it sounds, and so I will also recommend a mid grade pioneer. SQ innt near as good, gut it still has all the main features and good sound control options

what I really like about this one, is that the display area and button area can have their colors changed, this is nice because you can make it match the lights on the dash board so that it doesn't stick out so much (extremely nice at night and a lot less distracting)
also it features rear mounted USB and AUX in so stuff doesn't have to be plugged into the front, you can run cables or connectors easily into either the glove box or center console for a cleaner look. still has good crossovers and EQ controls. also the display is a little bigger.

I appreciate your effort but I avoid Ebay like the plague. Jesus Christ himself could have exactly what I need for 5 bucks and I would not order off e bay

Really? I've had very good luck with everything I've gotten from e-bay.

Same here. I only purchase from sellers with excellent feedback. eBay is the place of choice for some small business'; even Tasca and LKQ sell on eBay. Some of those radios have warranties; one was 6 months.

its a matter of principal for me. They are Anti Gun and I am pro 2nd amendment, I vote with my wallet and refuse to give them my business

Same here. I like the Swiss model where everyone must own one. eBay doesn't get the money, the seller does and pays any fees. You could also contact the seller directly and see if they'll sell the (not as issue if the item doesn't sell), or similar, item directly to you.
