i tried to contact a member that had done the removal but he hasn't been online so didn't get a reply. i need an answer as i was planning to doing it tomorrow. so what i want to know is, are there any problems with doing this down the line? also i believe someone said that the sound w/out the resonators sounded terrible when going higher speeds. i have the kkm intake so not sure if the combo of the two will make it sound more terrible at high speeds. i saw the video he had and that is what i want, a low growl but nothing too loud. it seems a cheap way to just get the sound as i don't plan on doing the 40 series till later down the line. please give me input asap, thanks

I had a custom exhaust on my 02 V8 w/o resonators and I brought it back in 1 week to get resonators put on becasue the cabin noise was so annoying. The drone will drive you nuts!!

Other than that it wont cause any harm.

I took the rezzies out of my LSE when I installed my exhaust. You will get some pretty good drone in the cabin at lower RPM's but I can honestly say it does not bother me. I have heard the same motor in a buddies car with the rezzies in, and I like mine more. It boils down to personal choice. As for long term, you wont have any more or less problems with the car without them than you would with them. Good luck, let us know what you decide.

I say go for it! I have the Magnaflow catback system and I had the resonators removed and replaced with more stainless steel tubing. Click on the link in my signature to hear it. It's a link to youtube. I also have a video out there with the same exhaust WITH resonators as well. Hope it helps:D

I actually have the same question... I have a 2000 LS V8 with stock exhaust and I was curious how much response you guys have felt from removing the resonators... Does it provide any increase in response at all? this is basically my main reason for wanting to remove them and replace with straight pipe... suggestions anyone?

removing the resonators probably wont improve performance, just sound, if anything its going to reduce back pressure which will make your car feel less responsive off the line.

I did the removal and didnt make any difference at idle but in high RPMs it sounded kind of metallic i didn't like it not even a bit.Thats why I went with 2.5" and an X-pipe just like my friend NYCLS and 2 Borla Mufflers from a former Mustang cat-back that my dad had laying around

I think it would depend on which mufflers you choose. I recently went with Magnaflows and no resonators on my 05 LS8. No drone at all and it is barely louder than stock from inside the car. Sounds awesome. Exactly what I wanted...very expensive and refined sound with a deep and throaty growl. From outside it has a great rip to it that makes it sound much healthier than it really is. My roomate drives it all the time and she loves it. Her words are that she purrs like a big cat. 8^)
