Anyways, I like the wheels, so i'm now tossing around the idea of maybe changing my niches up... So, think i should try plasti dipping my chrome rims.. They are in pristine condition right now so i dont want to do anything to mess them up, so i thought if I plasti dipped them, if i didn't like it, i could just peel it off..

Anyone ever successfully painted (to your liking) and then removed the paint without any issues?

I've removed all my chrome at this point on my LS, and having my niches in gunmetal would look good.... I think. I dont want to spend the time or money sending them out to be painted / powdered ( i'd just sell and buy new ones). so i thought the plasti might be a good alternative.

YES. Try it.

I'll be doing a lot of work with plasti dip in the following weeks. Ill be starting a thread about it.

Good luck.

^ Awesome

well it looks like getting "grey" in spray, might be tough... so its either spray black, or try to brush on custom mix of grey

do you see it damaging my chrome at all? (short term or long term)...

... whens the write up coming out??!?!?!?!?!?

There's already a lot of forum threads and videos of people using plasti dip on the internet.

I too will be experimenting with this stuff in the near future.

It peels right off with no damage. Just search on YouTube..

Not sure in black really unless you can tape off the lip, like the 02 gun-metal LSE wheels.

I was going to plasti-dip my Foose wheels but i couldnt find gray plasti-dip.

Well there's no lip on my wheels. Maybe I can mix up a grey and try brush/ rolling it on.....

I just plasti dipped my trim and i f'd up some spots and it peeled right off no problem. Not sure if it will change over the long term though. From what i've heard you should be good to go

Did my winter wheels. The stuff really does come off with no damage to the original paint. I've had my wheels plasti dipped for 3 months.

I recommend using note cards between the rim and tire. Much easier than tape. Make sure you cover the back of the spokes to prevent the overspray from coating the inside of your wheels, unless you want to do the entire wheel. It's easy to do though.

Dont hold the can too close, it'll run. Found that out the hard way. about 8-10 inches from the wheel.

It will come out matte black after it dries.

hope this helps. Good luck!
