thousands of people do what he did in the us every day, but because he was jackass star ryan dunn, not just a human named ryan dunn, all the sudden its terrible that he drank then drove then died and killed someone else too.
No, it's terrible regardless of the perceived fame of the individual.
However, it's a lonely conversation on the message board if only ONE person is familiar with the people involved.
By virtue of celebrity, they are familair to a wide variety and cross section of the population, and that familiarity and profile means it's a subject that everyone can relate to and discuss.
The fame is of no consequence.
Unless your going to argue that they set out to glamorous drinking driving, vehicular homicide, and traumatic firey deaths. I don't think that's the case here.
he is a celebrity so its worse?
No, he is a celebrity so we're all aware of it.
And many of us have a sense that they developed a personal feeling about him- either they liked him, disliked him, thought he was one way or another, based upon his media presence. So, he's everyone acquaintance.
Would the story be any worse to the guys on your jobsite if it had happened to one of the contractors you were familiar with?
vince neil drove drunk, crashed, killed his best friend, he lived, he got off with probation, and has had 2 more d.u.i's since, how the :q:q:q:q did he even get the right to drive again after killing his buddy, and why didnt he go to prison?
Is your beef with the criminal justice system?
If so, I know that I won't argue that a scum bag like Vince Neil doesn't belong in jail.
we can judge who we want to judge but in the end we all XXXX up all the time reguardless of what it is, so it doesnt make a celebrity worse just because we all know the name.
I didn't see anyone say that Dunn's death was any more tragic or "worse" because he was famous. I don't think he was an advocate for drunk driving, I don't think he left behind a good looking corpse, nor do I think that his death was romantic. I haven't seen his death used to glamorize reckless behavior or drunk driving anywhere.
But getting drunk then driving at triple digit speeds on rural highways late at night is something that should be condemned. And it makes sense that the conversation would take place when the subject was someone we are all familiar with.
Obscure stories with anonymous victims don't resonate or interest anyone.
A reality TV and film performer that we've all been watching for over ten years does. You've seen this guy in human situations in the past.
I'll also note that I haven't seen anyone say he deserved to die in a fiery violent car crash for the behavior because of his decision, just that it was tragic, selfish, and fortunate that he didn't hit any on coming traffic doing those speeds.
