Well the 93 mark was fine until a few weeks ago. I turned it on and the brakes were hissing at the first pump then it was hard and the second. the brakes were never like this. The ABS light was on and the old mechanic was telling me the abs was fine and to not worry. My fault for not getting a second opinion but what can I do. Hes a friend.

Thats not the worst thing that happened that day. As I shift into drive the idle floats from 400 to 600 rpm and the whole engine shakes about i would say one inch up and down. Everybody I ask who knows about ford say its the trans about to drop. It drives fime and all ways shifted a little hard. I would say that this is the first time I have ever had a problem this scary for my mark. Anybody ever have this happen and is this a trans issue? I cant afford anything more that a tune up and oil change and im overdue for both. Trans fluid is at a healty level just checked it.

Now both things happened at the same time and thats what makes me worry that this maybe the death blow.

Sounds like you have a bad brake booster. This would cause a vacuum leak resulting in the idle issues. Also I think there is a sensor that monitors the brake booster, not sure, but if so then that would be the ABS.

Either way it sounds like a bad booster and fixing that may fix a few other things. They are not easy to replace though.

Thats exactly what my first thought is too... try pulling off the booster line and plugging it, see if the car runs better.

Just dont drive it anywhere! LOL :D These things are HARD to stop without even some boost.

Well Guess I should of also told you I have bad luck and im not that good at fixing cars. But this at least gives me an idea for the good mechanic that my brother knows.

Yeah I know I should stop driving it. It stops but I have to press so
hard!

Well do as the kid says. VERY easy to do that, just gotta pull a little hard on the line.

Or if you dont want to do that, clamp the line shut REALLY well. You may be able to even use your hand to pinch the line with it running. When doing so if the idle climbs up - bingo!!!

Ok, this is a LITTLE different than your setup. But if you look towards the back you will see the yellow-ish brake fluid reservoir. Just to the very left you will see a line. That is the brake booster line. It goes to the intake manifold - pretty much the top center of the engine, I think.

Wow looks a lot nicer that my 93 but thanks just by turnng the line it helped the idle stay it 600 and now it sounds kinda same but better. I tried to pull it and it started to hiss but didnt come off. At least now I can tell the mechanic to replace the booster line and see if it works.

still needs a tune up bad!

Might even be just a bad line. Rubber hoses can break down. Pulling it on the end by the booster is REALLY hard to do though. At least it was for me. Its easier to pull at the intake if you follow it back.

I would really pull that line and cap the intake to be certain its the booster. If playing with the line helped you may be on the right track but its nice to know for sure.

There could be a vacuum leak elsewhere and if severe enough it would still hamper the breaks.

wow that looks like one hell of a vac leak!! lol didnt you have the cobra intake at boscobel

LOL Good eye. Yes I did. But I picked up a Mach intake for dirt cheap and sold the Cobra one. Made a little extra cash, but not much. The Mach intake performs the same really, but now I can say I have Mach intake!!! lol

I tried a search but couldn't find on my GEn II. 97.

It idles bad, dies after a quick step on the throttle. I can't seem to find what the IAC looks like on the engine.

While the car was idling, I disconnected a power wire to a component that resides on top of the valve cover on driver side-thinking the car would die.. but nothing.

Looks like EGR valve?

Where is the IAC located if it is the culprit?

This happened to me about 4 months ago, but after a few cranks.. it went away.

The IAC is the silver canister that sits right on top of your intake, it's right it front of your face.

I think you really need to clean the oil off that nice coil cover. Put those on your car and then you let them get filthy. Shame Shame
