Sapperfires new motor.

I figured that was the case. I know the drivers head runs hotter. The engine from my 98 was the same color on both sides as is the new motor I just dropped in it but when I cracked Sappers open I was thinking heat diffrence.

But on the other hand I agree with Sapper too. Someone has been in there and I wouldnt put it past them that they tried to clean it.

May also have to do with the rotation of the timing chains pulling oil into the heads, however that would make all engines darker on one side or the other. For example, they would all be darker on the DS, not either or.

guess ill find out soon how the inside of the one in the car looks, im betting its horrible, after block sealer..hmm

side note, was talking to the other techs today as i cleaned the lower plenums, and one stated that Diesel cleans really well, ive used gas to clean parts before.. has anyone ever tried diesel with good results?

i was just using the barsol tank, which absolutly sucks... so i tried some of our brake cleaner, which cleaned it fast, but it also evaporates rather fast, i need something relativly cheap that i can put in a tub, and i dont want to buy 3 gallons of diesel for nothing

deisel is basically what comes in the Gunk aerosol cans. deisel is a great engine cleaner thats what was in my parts washer at the shop for a long time until some dude talked matt into trying a new product for parts washers. well the new stuff is double kick ass and smells like bubble gum!

*tries to clean engine using bubble gum spit*

ordered more new stuffs....

BWD EGR gasket
Intake Manifold gasket
Idle Air Control Valve
Left and Right pre-cat O2 sensors
Torque Converter and Tail Shaft seals
Throttle Body gasket

only thing i can think of left to get is the exhaust gaskets and fluids

Doesn't laser have a gen 2 intake laying around. Have ya thought about installing the gen 2 intake on SAP car. Anyone know if there is some kind of hp difference. In the gen1 vs the gen2 on a gen1 motor.

Next intake on my car will be a 96 Cobra for strikly cosmedic purposes..

I cleaned the throttle body by hand today, will finish the IMRCs tomorrow if I have time

you mentioned red valve covers i did these a couple years ago i dont think it would look good in a blue car, these were for a silver frost 95, they looked awesome but on blue i am not sure, these i did powder coate myself though not paint, i like what you did it looks better than red.

Powder coat would be realy nice, and I agree, I don't think the red would work in a blur car..
I wish I could do my own powder coat, there's no way I can afford the equipment, I heard of just using a conventional over and place the item on some wood so it won't stick...I may get the gun one day and try it on some scrap aluminum for practice. Not sure about to color options available with powder, can they be special ordered or mixed ?

I prepped the covers so well and cleared the hell out of them. They are not quite as durable as powder but they are close. Plus the color looks so nice in person. The blue has gotten a couple shades darker now and they are gorgeous! Just wish I had some chemicals to buff them. I only have waxes and cant wax them yet!

bill go to autozone or advance auto and pick up some mequiars ultimate compound and try that the stuff is awesome for non professional over the counter if you would! i used it on my 98 saturday after cutting the car with meguiars m-105. jeremy you can buy hundreds of different powders from eastwood company thats where i was buying mine. all i used was a conventional oven to do it, works awesome. eastwood sells a do it yourself hot coat gun kit its really affordable. thats what i used.

and all the powders you can buy.

Maybe by the time I get this other motor (the bad one in my car now) rebuilt and stroked and all that other happy horse power stuff...then I'll start buyin stuff like powder coating ovens and mediablasters and a bigger air compressor, and a couple lifts, maybe a paint booth...

Oh wait I need a shop, bill cries about spills on his car port, I hve no place to put all the things I want to have, nor the money to buy them all...you wanna give me a job in Fl in your shop??? I'll buy all this stuff if I could store it there...

My pay seriously sucks...I might as well be unemployed
I have 29,000 in available credit with Matco and about the same with Snap-on, only prob is I have make bi weekly payments for what I order, so my orders have to be small to match my income..

sorry the shop is all mine!! i blow all my paycheck on rent for a reason, a mancave for me to hide in, why would i share, get your own dam mancave!!

Sorry it took so long to reply, I was busy picking up all the money falling fromy a$$

So your take home is $600-$900 a month?

Jobs are scarce around here, and what's the rule on a mechanic shop, must be able to maintain a shop with 2 years loss...yeah ok

i take home about 300 more a month than you, i also feed 4 people too! i know what it feels like dude. i dont get what you mean by the second part of that.

It's a "get your name out" rule, shops need to be able to stay open with a loss for the first 2 years...I don't have the $ to back me two years while I wait on a shop to actually generate an income from it
