Well Steeda in Canada finally nailed down my issues with reprograming my 00 LS8 this past Friday. All I have to say is WOW, this unit is amazing and Paul @ Steeda did a amazing job fine tuning the program. Right now I have 91 octance as they call it soon I will have a 87 and 93 to go with it. The power is defently unleashed with this unit but the biggest difference is the shifting its sooooooooo silky smooth its almost scary! 2 thumbs up highly recomend this unit once you have nailed down the exhaust and air filter upgrades.

Excellent! So they cleaned up the shifting huh? Do you have SST? Did they improve it as well?

Yes to there best ability then cleaned it up, the transmission is amazing this is probably the biggest difference I noticed other then being able to do huge burn outs! HAHA Honestly for the money its worth it!

Splendid. I am toying around with the idea of keeping this LS and replacing the tranny and tunning the car as the items become available. I am not really excited about keeping but I am less excited about a car payment for another 5. The car is holding up rather well since I started taking of most repair matters myself.

Ahh what to do what to do....

how much was this program and do they make it for the v6?

The hand held unit with 3 programs is $385 on their website. I got it for $350 cause I pre-ordered it, but its seriously well worth all of that, I would pay $500 for it if I had to.

Good question about the V6! I would say contact Paul @ www.steeda.ca and ask him sorry I cant be a bigger help. Good luck!

Sounds like a legit plan to me! I dont blame you on the car payments, once this one is paid off I am done for awhile. Well until I buy a Harley! HAHA

it is defintely available for the v6 an you will pay about 350 to 400 for the programmer and about 25 to 50 per program. you will need to give them your vin or pcm version number when yu call them it really depends on the pcm code version

I have had a car payment consistently since 1987. I think I am due for a break and intend to take it. I wa so close to buying an 05 V8 Black/Black Sport. I even had them 1500 under the employee pricing plan.

They are still calling me. Damn the temptation. I am considering a motorcycle as well just trying to build up the courage to get forgiveness from my wife as I kow I sure as hell would not get permission :). She would prolly go for actually but if I am going to be a bad boy I need to start with the purchase. Plus it will give her tons of ammo to rag on me. Heck she has to be able to have some good gossip for her hair dresser right!

Any numbers on power gains for either the v6 or the v8? Also is a big part of this changing shift points? If so would this chip benifit a manual car?

Well I had my flashed and dyno'd by a guy here in Florida and I have a V6 and I did not see or realize much of a change in response when driving. I do have the magnaflow exhaust and a cone air filter. IIRC it dyno'd about 7 to 10 HP highe than before the programming. You would not see any enefit with the shift programs with a manual tranny.

The guy did nonly tune the car a few times and he might have been able to get more out of it if he had more time on the task. There really isnt one tune that fits all so each car has to be tuned and teste numerous times to really nail the peak points.

Hey eL! Where you been lately? I haven't seen you around much the last few days.

Go ahead...buy the car. You know you want it. It's unamerican not to have a car payment! But if you want a bike...my son has an outstanding 2002 GSX-R600 for sale. That will get your heart started. Heck, I just barely got used to him riding that when he went out the other day and bought a GSX-R1000! That thing is just plain hairy.

I know I feel like I fell off the planet. I just closed on the sae of my home. My agent went on a 3 week vacation and was not present at the closing. The buyers aget went on a two week vacation and did return for the closing plus I had a guy that was working for me move to anothe state wich has left me entirely ited up with a bunch of BS.

I love the GSX's but I am shooting for a 1000 or better. If I am going to get myslf in trouble I intend to do it big. I am a Honda fan though and might buy and Inteceptor. I owned several in my day and really like the ride quality plus the single sided swing arm looks great. Ducati makes a very appealing bike with a SSSA but I have never owned one and can only imagie what the maintenance cost would be like for the thing.

I can't come to terms with the car payment esp when this one is running well and has the greater opportunity to be tuned than the 03+. Lord I bought this thing when it first came out and can't believe I am eve considering this since I had so many issues with it but I am really holding out to se the redesigned model and buying it. If they ever do it.

Some one has to ferret out the problems in a new car Imight a wll do it twice huh! See what Iput myself through for you guys :D

Croch rockets are all hairy. I just dont get how you can sit on one those things for hours at a time. Harley V-Rod is more my idea.

The Vrod is not out of the list of prospects. I haven't shopped them for price yet though so it could be cost prohibative. Harley used to race crotch rockets. I think it was the V1000 or something likethat. I haven't watched the races in a long time so I do not know if they are still running them in the big bore races. It was a sharp looking ride. But I digress see the whole intent of a crotch rocket is not to take a long tie toget where you are headed vs the harleys well lets just say some of them don't even arrive at their intended destination :).

I see far more harley's on the side of the interstate down here than all othe cars and motorcycles combined. Remember I own an LS so I already have a full plate of dependability issues and I can only tolerate so much. :)

is there anyway to get it cheaper, say used or ebay. how does it exactly work and who can do the programming in stl

think of the hardware as a method of a Tuner to sell his skills and tune your car. The price isn't for the hardware, but a vechile 'no pun intended' for SCT dealers to sell their tuning.

The only way to purchase a used one - is if the previous owner unlocks his by flashing back to 'F' factory, and you have the same PCM base code.

so a couple months ago i got my pcm flashed or reprogrammed for 150 bucks i should have jsut spent 200 more and they could have done this. or do u neeed to get the computer firsdt. confussed sorry if it sounds stupid

not stupid.

you do not need a computer to simply upload tunes to your car.

you do need a computer to take full advantage of the datalogger and to apply any new tunes that your tuner would send you via e-mail. The tune needs to be uploaded into the handheld then your car.

the first time you use one - it uploads a copy of your current (stock) PCM into 'F' factory position - so you can always go back to stock. Once you do that - the unit is locked to your VIN and cannot be used on any other car.

to unlock it - you must flash your car back to 'F' stock - meaning you are not tuned anymore.

then you can use it on another car - providing the base PCM code used in the tunes are compatible with the new car.

Lou,
Do you have a tune file that you really like? Just curious. (My PCM code is WOK8).
Thanks!

I am running the most agrssive tune I can - 19rwhp - without pinging.
It has modified shift points and SST shifting set to almost max firmness. Probably too choppy for some - but I like it.

I was fortunate being the first one on this - we got to try a bunch of tunes until we felt we got it just right.

Nice, I hope Steeda can provide me with a couple more nice programs that worked as well as this first one does. I am simply amazed at what they have done so far.
