Shaking And Dying Ls :(

I cant a miss causing the type of shaking and dying you are speaking of. I admit I only had that porblem twice, both older engines, a 1974 302 nicely built and a 1986 460 very nicely built. Problem was spark plug wires on both that went bad. Only 1 cylinder was affected. I noticed a loss of power and running kind of rough but nothing like you are saying. These newer engines with all the computer controlled stuff baffles me. I no nothing when it comes to them. Give me any old (1993 and older) ford engine and I am ok.

Ya i miss that rail gun, ,well i have just dropped off the car at the auto clinic next door for them to check it out.

Ya i know old cars are soo much easier to fix . .. these new cars have sooo many sensors and all this :q:q:q:q that :q:q:q:q...one thing goes bad ,, everything is effected,,

ya i have had that changed already,, only thing left to change would be the pvc vaulve... that was next on the agenda.. but still.. no dice,, since the car is still acting up like this....

I just bought a 2000 Lincoln LS (83M miles) and it appears to be in the same shape as yours. The dealer says it will be $600 to do the Valve Cover job and $120/coil times 8.
So I'm particularly interested in your final outcome.

Thanks, my son was dying for this car and now it sounds like he will have to come off the hip -bigtime.

Thanks

I should mention that my car shook really bad and I found a bad fuel injector causing it. One cylinder in these cars makes a huge difference for some reason. If things are not perfect... Heck, I even feel a vibration when my AC is maxed out.

To who mentioned Unreal Tournament, I still have it loaded on my PC. That is the last game I got into and played a lot. I am sure I'll look for the Christmas levels again this year for old times sake. :) I played a little of UT2003 or was it 2004... and it was pretty cool. I just never had time to really get into it. I like to be able to get in a game, piss off a few people enough to make them leave, and then leave myself. :) :)

Well i figured out why my car was still havin the same issue.. mother :q:q:q:qer that i took my car to , never changed the valve gaskets,, so they where still leaking to the boots.. so i took it back to him to do the freaking job,, mother:q:q:q:qing shady ass mechanic,, i swear.. the coils dont all have to be replaced, the diag will tell you wish one has to be replaced. but if you have to have them replaced i would get the coils, they are around 57 bucks at autozone.. dealer:q:q:q:qp always charges alllot,, you migh also have to change the boots,, i know i do ,, they are 14 each... they told me that just a little oil going in the coil will short it out.. and these cars like "lsbit" said are very sensative if something isnt right everything goes to hell...

OEM coils from MAX at Five Star Ford are the same price. I would say better quality then the ones from autozone as well.

Anyone hear if he got the problem fixed? And Im new to these motors that have a coil per cylinder. What powers the coils? Could it be a bad power supply? I still cant see what cylinder causing his kind of problems. Could be wrong though.
