for the past 2 weeks my ls has been shaking in the steering wheel when I'm on the highway and put on the breaks. It happens at speeds above 55mph and then stops when I get below it. I figured it was needing a tire rotation and balance. This past weekend I took it in and had those two items done and the shop said my rear breaks were shot. So I got that done but the shaking is still there. They said the front breaks were fine. (unless they didn't check them but said they did)

Anyone got an idea whats up here?

You've got one or more coils dropping out. Many times they won't throw a CEL but if you can get the dealer to datalog it, it'll show up immediately. A bad solenoid pack in the transmission (another common problem) can act like that also.

Probably have the front rechecked. Mine was fine until I rotated the tires - need to get the balancing checked. Mine only starts shaking around 70mph.

Bad rotors. Replace them, don't have them turned. (If you have them turned, the shake will almost certainly be back after a few thousand miles.)

Thanks for all the replies. I will have it looked at again this weekend. I bought the extended warranty from carmax, pay 50 bucks when I bring it in and they cover the rest. I doubt rotors would be covered though. Seems like a ware and tear thing.

where is the fuse for wind shield wipers? my wind shield wipers dont work cause a few is blown and i dont know where it is so i can have it replaced, my car is a 2001 lincoln ls

it may not be the rotors, get a raod forced balance i did it and i found that i had a bad rim. i replaced it and problem was fixed. and also how old are your tires.

the tires are about a year told. they were replaced at the dealer when i got the car. i'm going to take to the dealer and have a few other things fixed, like leaking in passenger side when it rains, have the brake pedal creaking sound fixed, the liner in my trunk came apart, so i'll have them look at the shaking and see if its under a warranty type of fix.
