I have an 02 LSE V-8, with the manual shifter thing, i dont know what its called hybrid shifting i guess, anyways ive used it maybe twice in the three years ive owned the car, and noticed that it does not shift into first gear, is it suppose to, or not, it never has since I got the car, just wanted to know.

it's made that way. however, it is possible to have it altered and start in first

It will not start off in first gear from the factory due to emissions regulations or some crap. You can get an XCALL II with an aftermarket tune for the car's computer that will fix that. The second gens (03-06) will start in first, stock.
