On earth.
I just ordered 4 sport shocks from fordparts.com, the "special" kind lol. A dealer in Texas took the order but called me shortly thereafter. The man stated he could fulfill the two fronts but the backs were no longer in production and couldn't find them anywhere.

So gentlemen, in case there is some secret shock where house out there it appears aftermarket may be our only choice. Anyone have any decent suggestions? Jag shocks?

Rockauto has Monroe rears, couldn't tell you how good they are though!

Thats what I requested for the rears and they were unable to locate any.

I did, I just purchased two of the AST-216's.

I talked to gentlemen from the dealer in Texas who fulfilled my fordparts.com order about the parts and it really is quite retarded how they have these parts set up. Apparently every shock variant has a motorcraft part number EG: AST-216, and a Genuine Ford Parts number EG: 6W4218125B, so two numbers for the same part. Then you factor in the 3 different types of LS suspension "Standard, Special, Euro" and you have 6 part numbers now. To further **** you up, the Genuine Ford Parts numbers recently changed ever so slightly.

I was very lost so say the least but I have it figured out now. I ended up ordering the front sport suspension from Fordparts.com under the Genuine Ford Part number, and the rear spot suspension from Fordpartsgiant.com with the motorcraft number using the link you provided.

Edit: Maybe one day when the car is paid for Bull.

Glad that worked out, going to do the work yourself or? I know a person who is very good at changing out the struts and always willing to help members out.... won't say any names...

Well, what I assumed has come true. Yeah, places other than fordparts.com are listing the AST-216's rear sport shocks, but that doesn't mean they have them.

Got an email from fordpartsgiant.com where I attempted to order them from the link that jjcool00 provided above.
"All parts in your order are discontinued. Your order is cancelled. "

Just bought front & rear from Rock auto..

From my understanding "Standard Suspension" is not the sport shocks.

Different shock part numbers for "Special suspension" are available from rockauto if you select different years, any word on if these are compatible?

01 & 06 Sports shocks are different?

I'm looking at a whole set of different numbers here from something Max @dealership quoted.

These are the correct part numbers for '02 LS V8 "Sport" Shocks:

Front: Motorcraft 1W4Z-18124-DA, AST25
Rear: Motorcraft XW4Z-18125-BA, AT704G

Why would shocks be different between Generations, stock ride height is not the same ?

Well I'd expect differences between generations, but other gen II years have sport shock selections available on rock auto. I'd just like to know if those would work, and are they actually in stock or will I just get another order canceled email.

Monroe lists the rears with the same part numbers between years. The fronts are different, but I suspect that is because of sport/non-sport units. The mounting points, as far as I know, weren't changed between generations.

As always, YMMV.

Looking back on rockauto and the Sachs "super touring" product numbers don't change from generation to generation which is interesting because there are still rear euro shocks available for 2002 models. I just don't understand why every place lists shock incompatibility between generations, if some cheapo sachs are the same for both. Anywho, I think I found some actual 06 rear sport shocks from some dealer in Florida, just have to wait on an email. Why is this so damn complicated.

I had a heck of a time finding the sport rears when I replaced mine last year. Had my order cancelled numerous times from different places, but finally located some from a dealer on ebay.

Good luck.

Yeah it is a bitch. Interestingly enough, like LS4me pointed out, the Sachs Super Touring rear shocks product number 030103 stay the same throughout the entire 00-06 model range so it appears that they are all interchangeable. However, I am not going to order some just to figure out I am wrong and have to ship them back. What would really be nice is for someone with a vast knowledge of the LS *cough joegr cough* to come and confirm that the shocks are all interchangeable throughout the years.

Cause like I said, there are some euro rears for the 02 model still out there.

Alldata shows the same part numbers (front: 1W4Z18124DA; rear: 3W4Z18125BA) for both generations. I would feel quite confident ordering the same shock for either generation.

I don't recall the front and rear being different from when I did mine. Maybe they work front and rear? That sucks either way because I'l probably need some soon.

Edit - maybe try thunderbirdshocks since its the same platform. I also remember someone using Jag shocks awhile back...

Just purchased & installed Monroe Sensa-Trac front/rear. What a nice difference!!!!!

You guys are a bunch of losers. The Thunderbird guys have it all figured out and none of you have a clue. BTW I just ordered a set of sport shocks from Tasca for $333 shipped. Just have to know how to search!
