Thank you so much for this, I couldn't figure it out with all the different part numbers and what have you. Turns out that every time I was entering my vin/yea, make, model it would only bring back those ASH -214/216 results which are difficult to come by, especially the rears. Because you provided this information I was able to order some ASH357's from Tasca. I just hope I don't get an email saying my order was canceled because of part availability.

When I look up ASH357's on fordparts.com I get this.

"Due to low demand, Ford Motor Company is no longer manufacturing the following part(s) you selected:

ASH-357

As a result, the part(s) may be subject to limited or lack of availability, may take your dealer longer to procure or may not be available at the suggested retail price. Your dealer may contact you regarding fulfillment options and/or changes to pricing. If applicable, you will not be charged any additional cost without your prior authorization. Please contact your dealer with any questions or concerns."

So who knows, it says the same thing for ASH216, ASH357, and ASH-24459. At least I know exactly what the hell to look for now.

I imagine by the time I need shocks again, this problem will be so bad I'll be clicking on that stance link.

But seriously, thanks again M4rk.

No problem, glad I could help.

RockAuto has the sport rears in stock. I think some show only as "1 remaining" though.

Yeah I saw that. They showed 1 and amazon showed 1. Thought about just order those two but the amazon ones said they shipped in 1-3 months. I just hope Tasca can fulfill my order.

Alldata shows the same part numbers (front: 1W4Z18124DA; rear: 3W4Z18125BA) for both generations. I would feel quite confident ordering the same shock for either generation.

+1

Max @dealership quoted.

These are the correct part numbers for '02 LS V8 "Sport" Shocks:

Front: Motorcraft 1W4Z-18124-DA, AST25
Rear: Motorcraft XW4Z-18125-BA, AT704G

You guys are a bunch of losers. The Thunderbird guys have it all figured out and none of you have a clue. BTW I just ordered a set of sport shocks from Tasca for $333 shipped. Just have to know how to search!

Care to share the info they have?

Just an update here. I placed an order through Tasca for those AST-216 because they said they had them. Well a week later they emailed me and said they wouldn't be available to fulfill the order, go figure. So back to rockauto I went. I started searching through both generations to try and find something and look what I found.

I jumped on them, because of that price, it's a risk I am willing to take for those kind of savings. Rockauto return policy is still good for these so I feel confident. It's also worth noting they still have those "Performance Rears" in stock for a 2002. To my understanding, those are the Euros correct?

I don't know how long those wholesale specials will be around but I ordered em, I'll update here when they arrive.

Hmm from a prior post Hite posted that those part numbers are for the front, not the rear. Maybe ask him to confirm those are rears since he has those.

This is frustrating, thanks though.

I understand your frustration was just google searching that part number was thinking about grabbing a set since they are on clearance and storing them, but I'll wait for your or Hite's confirmation first.

Welll..... It says OE and no LS left the factory with the Euro shocks..... They were specifically for the LSes destined foe Europe.

On another note..... I wouldn't mix and match shock calibrations. I would only use the same shock (Euro, sport/special, base...) on all 4 corners.

Here's a cross reference.....

Hite said he would confirm when he got home from work. I called my local Ford/Lincoln dealer and had them run the AT705G and they said it was a rear. AT705G is the motorcraft number, the long ford part number is XW4Z18125CA. They said the 18125 indicates rear, a 18124 would indicate front.

Rockauto has this AT705G listed as special suspension. My understanding is Standard= standard, Special=sport, Performance=euro

I've seen "special" and "performance" used interchangeably.

I hope you're not over-thinking the issue..... Remember, Ford changes part numbers like most people change their underwear!!

At this point, I really just want some ****ing rear shocks. This is mildly ridiculous.

After reading a bit more I think you are correct, those might be Euros.

OK, Chris..... You made me go search through my records......

To the best of my recollection these are the Euro part numbers. I don't remember which is front and rear.......

XW4Z-18124-EA
XW4Z-18125-CA

I'm basing this on the date I purchased them and when I lowered my old LS. I will search further.....

Further digging from what I ordered.......

Front sport: XW4Z-18125-BA
Rear sport.: XW4Z-18124-CA

Even MORE confused? :p

FOR SURE sport shocks.....
3W4Z-18125-BA......3W4Z18124-DA. These are for an '06 but, as mounting points didn't change, should fit your LS just fine.

Those wholesale deal shocks are the euros. Wondering how that is going to be with front sports.

NOT well!!!!! The front will feel sloppy while the rear will be quite stiff. The Euros are VERY stiff! Those, with the Springtech springs made my LS ride like a truck!

I've found those numbers numerous places, doesn't mean its in stock or even available. Its a matter of find one of the 275 part numbers that 1) Is actually purchasable and 2) Fits

OK Chris. This should be definitive. I just went out and checked the numbers on the factory shocks on my wife's LS.

Front: #6W43-18045-DA (number may be off BUT, most importantly) with a GREEN sticker.
Rear: #6W43-18W002-FB (again number may be "wrong") with a PURPLE sticker.

From what I've found, the color of the sticker is the key, regardless of the actual/current P/N.

Fit shouldn't be an issue as there were no changes to suspension mounting.
