No, what I'm talking about is eliminating the crossover pipe completely. Can that be done?

it is always possible to do what ever you want with an exhaust set up if you build it yourself. the real question is, are you doing the right thing. Is it possible
I guess I'm used to being able to rev the engine when it's in park or neutral. To me, it sounds too 'refined'. When I get into the throttle, it sounds good, but at rest, I want my car to sound like it has testicular fortitude.
Educate yourself a bit on the LS.
Its a small V8, will not sound cammed or like a pushrod motor and it does not rev past 3K due to the rev limiter.

also for some LSes, there is a cat, that is the crossover pipe.

What Josh said, it's not a cross over, it's just a pair of hydroformed plates that are welded together to form the ' )( ' looking crossover to hold both exhaust pipes from moving.
That is not a cat, nor a cross-over.
I know about the rev limiter. I just think it's a crap idea. I miss the look on the driver's face when he realizes he's putting his rice-burning 4-banger against something that has 4 more cylinders.
And even a small V8 can sound like it has a pair...

Wellll..... You DID buy a luxury car, NOT a muscle car.
when Joe post repair manual pictures on here, those pictures look exactly like what my car has and not what a friend of mine had on his LS.
