Hello everyone, I have a 2000 LSv6 and I have a couple of issues that I would like some help with. First off, I have either a idle air control valve problem or a wiring problem. I replaced the idle air control valve and have had to replace throttle sensors three times within three months and I know that there is no way that I've gotten three bad sensors... The other issue I have is that the temp gauge will shoot up into high when I am stuck in traffic but when I am driving on the highway it's fine.. any suggestions and advice would be appreciated! Thanks

Why are you replacing the throttle position sensors? What are the symptoms and/or codes?

On the overheating, the most likely cause is your hydraulic cooling fan. It has a speed control solenoid on it that is known to fail. When it does, the fan won't turn fast enough at idle to keep the engine cool. With the engine cold, turn the AC off and start the car. Listen to the fan and feel the air flow. Now turn the AC on. The fan should step up considerably in speed (louder and more air flow). If it doesn't, then the speed control isn't working and that is probably because of a stuck solenoid valve.

Why did you replace the IAC? Rough/erratic idle? Have you replaced the PCV elbow under the lower intake manifold?

Have you replaced the degas bottle? The hydraulic fan actuator? The hydraulic fan fluid?

I was having rough/stalling problems when I would hit the brakes.. I have not tried your suggestions yet.. as much as I would love to fix it now I have a wife and a kid on the way that kinda complicates things..

Just to throw this out there, I have to disconnect my battery every so often and that takes care of the problem in the short go.. I realize that isn't the best thing to do but it makes it driveable

I have not yet

I would start there. It's a bugger, but doable. While everything is disassembled you should also do the plugs and coils. I had this issue until I had the elbow replaced.

Awesome! Thanks for the advice. As soon as I can get to it I will let you know how it went!

I would allow a whole day for this. There is a work involved. MANY things to remove and reinstall. Mark it all (or take many, many pictures!) and take your time.
