I went ahead and bought an '06 LS and when I was driving home the CEL came on. So I scanned it and it threw these codes: cylinder no. 7 misfire and catalyst below threshold and system running too lean. I talked to the guy who sold me the car from the car lot and said to let him know what the problem is and he'll fix any issues the car has.

Well its good he is fixing it for you. The same thing happened to me just a couple hours after I bought my '05 last year. Turns out it was just a coil.

that sucks, at least he'll fix it. How many miles on the LS?

nevermind just saw the other thread

Be politely agressive and ask to have them all changed. No sense in dancing the dance. I bet that cel has been on for awhile and he just had it cleared to make the sale.

exactly what I was thinking when I was driving home:mad:

Are the 06's included under Ford's extended COP warranty because of the TSB still? I understand the lot he got it from said they would replace it, but if it's under the dealer warranty I'd prefer an OEM part in there compared to lets say one from AutoZone. Unless he's replacing with Ford parts.

Ill be investigating all of this tomorrow at work.

The 06 was never part of that tsb.

Either way, this should'nt be too hard on me especially with my new job at Ford

That's cool.

I'm sure you will have some good perks on parts and services. I have a cel on mine still gotta check n see what it is.

I didn't think so, was just making sure. My parents work for Ford, they told me that they can only get discounted parts. Service would be nice too.

No COP coverage on the 06 MY, unfortunately. Depending on the mileage you might still be covered by stock emissions warranty. I think it's 10y/100k miles. Check the service book to be sure :)

When looking at used cars, I take a scan tool with me and check to see that all the monitors are complete. If not, you know that someone cleared codes recently.
I like to run the KOER diagnostic too.

What he said. And if they start bitching about you hooking up a scan tool then you know you got something to worry about. :)

I went to the muffler shop yesterday and had the drivers side cat replaced. shes driving good as new now and man is it fast compared to my 04 V6 that I used to have. The symptoms that I was having was a noisy exhaust, the car would not shift correctly, random misfires were detected, and the car seemed to have no power. All of that is gone now that it has a new cat

what cat did they replace it with? OEM?

The cats are covered under the emission warranty, which I think is 8 yrs/80k.

I just got the cat replaced by ford for free in my 2004 LS with 50k miles.
